'Aankhon Dekhi' written and directed by Rajat Kapoor is a close, tender observation of its flawlessly performed protagonist Bauji, who decides that he will believe in obly what he has actually seen, and not what others tell him. The story, frankly, is itself a product of its sharp, poignant script.
'Ankhon Dekhi' is a straightforward satire which goes beyond a classy comedy. Its a compelling story which builds on the extraordinary qualities of its protagonist, played by Sanjay Mishra. There are other members in this family too, played by Seema Pahwa as the wife of Bauji, Rajat himself in a quite laid back performanve as the younger brother of Sanjai, and Namit Das as Bauji's son-in-law. But none of them match the extraordinary prowess of Sanjay of breathing life into a character ajd make him lift from the paper, and eventually, from the cinema screens.
And with him soars the middle-class-valued India. In a dog-biting comedy, the vestiages of a forgotten film culture, the sharp, unflinchingly amusing lines.
Over everything, 'Ankhon Dekhi' is a stunning achievement. Its 3.5 for the film since it meanders in the second half a little, but for Sanjay's performance, an additional half makes it 4 out of 5 in total for 'Ankhon Dekhi'. I plead you watch it.

Ankhon Dekhi. It is not just another off beat movie from Rajat Kapoor. Instead, it is his big leap as a film maker. He teams up with versatile Sanjay Mishra and result is incredible thought provoking film.

Ankhon Dekhi centers around Raje Bauji, played by Sanjay Mishra who, after a dramatic incident, decides that he will only believe what he sees with his eyes. This one little idea changes Bauji for ever. The strength of the movie is its sharp performances and authentic down town setup. Then there are delicious dialogues, delicious sequences of people first questioning Bauji and then following him blindly. All supporting actors including Rajat Kapoor also do an excellent job.

This movie is about feeling and experiencing what Bauji felt and then doing your own interpretations. I am going with fantastic 8 out of 10 for Ankhon Dekhi. It is about extra ordinary tale of an ordinary person.

Babuji " kitne gadhe hai ham, logo ke review par vishvash kar lete hai. Inke review tumhara Sach nahi hai, apna sach bhogo. Maine faisla Kar liya hai aaj se Mera Sach Mera bhoga hua Sach hoga. Mai har wo bat manne se inkar Kar dunga jisko Maine dekha ya suna na ho."

This movie deserve 10/10 rating. I have watched the movie at-least 100 times or more. I use to give the CD of this movie as gift to the visitors in my institute.

If you are looking for the truth, the calmness, the purity, the focus, the meaning of life, then please go for it.

"What is hard to come to terms with in the film is absolutism with which Bauji prescribes to his views… at first you think “good for him!” when he says he refuses to follow all the rules and regulations society has set for religion (Hinduism in this case) because there is no evidence of God even existing. But then, he also starts to doubt the existence of gravity and that the world is round, and your thoughts automatically become “ok, never mind, this guy is a complete idiot”. He is at once, Socrates(“the only thing I know is, I know nothing”) and a senile old fool."
