• The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water is zany, clever and fun (and in 3-D), as long as you can take 93 minutes of it. As I exited the theatre, I heard a father telling his young son wearily: “That’s about all the SpongeBob I can take.” The son, it seemed, could have taken a few hours more.

  • Jeeva is a tribute to all the passionate cricket players who have failed without ever getting an opportunity to prove their mettle. It’s the story of passion versus politics.

  • Jigarthanda is a satirical tale masquerading as a gangster film…

  • The zippiness does fade in the second half of Edge of Tomorrow. And the title (perhaps the most belabored way possible of saying tonight) could also use a replay. But among countless sequels and remakes, the high-concept Edge of Tomorrow – both a Tom Cruise celebration and parody – is the right kind of a rerun.

  • That a film can so convincingly make light of an unbearable tragedy is its astounding comic achievement. What more low-down do you want: Just go ahead and load up on the guilt-free laughs!

  • Of the girls, the little stick of dynamite Chitrashi Rawat, the independent-minded Sagarika Ghatge, the team’s zip-unzip vamp Shilpa Shukla and the anger-spewing Tania Abrol are marvellous discoveries.

    Yup, so go for it!
