SS Rajamouli is a man who is on top of his craft. With nuanced screenplay and vision, he shapes effective features which carry the power to captivate the audience. But with his 'Baahubali: the Beginning' he truly raises the bar- not just for the regional cinema, but for the Indian cinema as a whole. This is the most priceless revolution in Hindi cinema.
The film has a sharp, interesting narrative: of a child found by a tribal family in the mysterious female hands, amidst the flowing waters. The boy, raised by the name Siva, is attracted to the streams, and wants to cross them. And he does, with a genuine flight of fancy. And then starts an amazing journey, an experience spanning a palace, its brutal king, the king's oppressive rule, and Siva's unknown descent: a glorious story only half told, to be continued in a sequel.
Watching Baahubali is watching many things- the sharp, deconstructed screenwriting of KV Vijayendra Prasad being translated on the big screen as it is, the marvelous direction by SS Rajamouli, the arresting visual charm of KK Senthil Kumar's cinematography, the scene-stealing special effects by the Makuta all decorate the grandeur of Baahubali: The Beginning's vision.
The performances are equally impressive. While Tamannah breathes life into the bold and beautiful Avanthika, Rana Daggubati's Bhallala Deva makes for a strong villain. Sathyaraj as Katappa and Kichcha Sudeepa as the Afghan warrior are never felt as supporting characters and establish themselves as mass heroes. But the two performers who take the show for your time are Ramya Krishnan's Sivagami and Prabhas's Mahendra Baahubali, who take the film by storm.
Talk behind my back and all, Baahubali is a blockbuster in every sense of word, and elevates the storytelling with its crispness. Its a visually captivating film which arrests you with its vivid wisdom. I'm going with four and a half stars out of five. For the love of cinema, watch it. It's the best movie of Indian cinema this year with a universal appeal.

(Written 2 years before the conclusion's release)

It's true that filmmaking is no easy job. Especially when it comes to make a film of a high and grand grandeur. But, Mr S. S. Rajamauli has proved that nothing is impossible of Indian filmmakers, provided that they have the technology, actors and of course, a story that can make a film work. Baahubali The Beginning is a perfect example of this thing.

From the very first scene, the film makes an impact on the viewers. As the film keeps unfolding, entertainment level increases. It can be said that what seemed to exist only in imagination has come to be true in Baahubaali The Beginning. It's perhaps the first technically most brilliant film I have ever enjoyed on big screen ever in my life.

All a result of excellent filmmaking.

Coming to performances, Prabhas is quite energetic, and he fits in the provided roles. Tamannaah looks quite amazing and does very well and has a role never seen before. Anushka Shetty also does well in a little explored role. Sathyaraj does very well, as he has a good character and he delivers. Besides, Rana Daggubati also seems energetic in his character. Nasser, Ramya Krishnan and others too do their respective parts extremely well.

    A result of excellent performances.

Coming to music, you get to hear a pleasant music,as a trademark of every film of Rajamauli. The type of romance you get to see in almost every Rajamauli film too is present here. The film's every element is so good that you will end up falling in love with it.

    A result of pleasing music.

Coming to action scenes and technical department, which are the main highlights of the film, the film scores a 100% in every context. There is not even a single scene where you will get a chance to blink. The war episodes, action scenes, from the beginning to the end, are really worth praise. It can be said that it's another excellent film from the director who made Magadheera.

A result of devoted and highly entertaining imagination.

Coming to the story and screenplay, its here very well in the part 1. However, since its a two part film, you will have to wait for part two to find the entire story. But still, the way the film ends will leave you thinking what would be in the next part. But you will surely not forget this one.

It's also true that for watching the conclusion, you need to watch the beginning. It's a good trend by Rajamauli sir to make films in two parts so that the viewers enjoy both.

Overall, Baahubali The Beginning is a perfect, perfect and perhaps the most perfect film of Indian Cinema ever. It's a sort of film that can't be missed on the big screen. Besides, the part two will be coming soon in 2016. I am really unable to control my excitement and I have been thinking about it since the time I left my seat. It's a sort of film that is truly great, amazing and good enough that you will be left stunned forever. Definitely a mega BLOCKBUSTER!

The Indian film industry is the biggest in the world for the sheer volume of films which is being churned out every year. However, the budget which is being shelled are peanuts when you compare it to Hollywood. Well it actually makes sense after all the production team needs to reap profits which is kinda difficult if the costs are humongous especially for regional languages. But if the product is good, nothing should stop it from being a blockbuster which is exactly the reason why the producers have invested 250 C into Rajamouli's magnum opus "Baahubali: The Beginning". So will it be as awe-inspiring as promised???

A significant portion of the first half showcases as to how the blue blooded Shiva alias Mahendra Baahubali (Prabhas) was raised by the tribal folks in the foothills of the mighty waterfalls. As destiny would have it, Shiva was spurred to cross the waterfalls in search of lands that lay beyond. Eventually he does it & meets Avantika (Tamannaah), who happens to be part of a rebellion seeking to rescue the Queen, Devasena (Anushka Shetty) held captive by the fiendish usurper Bhalla Dev (Rana Daggubati). Shiva takes it upon himself to save the Queen but little did he realize that his genes actually belonged to the kingdom of Mahishmati.

Ever since the movie was announced, the hype & expectations surrounding it was understandable after all it was helmed from Rajamouli; the maverick behind "Magadheera", "Eega" etc. Anywaz his latest venture has lived upto expectations as his screenplay (inspired from Mahabharata) was engrossing for most parts except for the romance sequence which stuck out like a sore thumb. In the technical department, almost all the aspects were of supreme quality & totally worth the money spent on them. The VFX effects were mind blowing for most parts though the avalanche seemed kinda odd. Hats off to Sabu Cyril for his brilliant sets & Senthil Kumar for the breathtaking visuals. Last but the least, kudos to Keeravani's BGM & music which was in sync with the mood of the movie.

It's the first time that I have watched a movie of Prabhas & I should admit I was pretty impressed with the aura that he brings to the screen. Apart from his bulky physique, he fitted the character of the protagonist pretty well. Equally impressive was Rana Daggubati who seemed more than an equal match for the machismo Prabhas, But the pick among the lot for me was Remya Krishnan & Satyaraj who were exceptional in their respective roles. As for the rest of the cast, Anushka ought to be applauded for her de-glam look while Tamannah & Nasar were apt in their performances.

Verdict: The film has released in over 4200 screens around the world & from the reports coming in, it has shattered all opening day records by grossing about 60 C. It's definitely worth all the applause coming its way & I would have to admit I just cant wait for the second part to release. In short, you definitely got to watch this!!!

    Rating: 4/5

    Regards...Ben

About Baahubali – The Beginning: This is supposed to be one of the most expensive film (approximately 250 crore) in the history of Indian Cinema. It is a two-part Telugu Epic film written and directed by S. S. Rajamouli (Eega fame – Makhi in Hindi). It is simultaneously made in Tamil as well and dubbed in Hindi, Malayalam and French. Karan Johar presents the Hindi version. The first part has seen its release on 10th July, 2015 and the second part (Baahubali – The Conclusion) will be released in 2016. It is reported that some of the great scenes in the movie are shot in Rock Garden of Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh and a few other scenes are shot at Ramoji Film city as well as in Kerala (Adirapalli waterfall). It has two national award winning technicians, music director Keeravani and production designer Sabu Cyril. A battle scene is shot for 20 minutes, and it took almost four months to shoot. The movie has 2000 junior artists, 600 technicians, horses, elephants etc. The film contains approximately 4500 visual effects and computer graphics. Baahubali: The Beginning has been styled and spelled as bāhubaLi in posters and screen.

    Review:
Rajamouli’s magnum opus has been designed on a very high scale, be it its production design, visual appeal, background score or narration. The war sequences shot in the movie have feel of Mahabharata (Even Rajamouli has mentioned in the media during his interviews that he was highly inspired from the epic Mahabharata). Some awe-inspiring visuals gave me goosebumps, especially magnificent waterfall shots and palaces.

As the name conveys, Baahubali means the one with strong arms. This first part of the movie introduces the story of Shivudu aka Shiva (Prabhas), his search for the reasons of being identified as Baahubali, and later unfolds the story of two brothers and their contest for the dynasty of Mahishmathi Kingdom. Indeed certain plots are larger than life and could have been unbelievable in the non-epic format, but the whole screenplay makes it very much integral part of the film. Lot of minute details is taken into consideration. Pre-intermission, every character is introduced so that the right background is set further.

The movie begins with introducing Mahishmati Kingdom and the nearby areas through map. It is heavy downpour, and we see Sivagami (Ramya Krishnan), who is injured badly and also hurt with an arrow pierced at the back, trying to save herself and a newly born infant from the enemies who are following her. She fights back and tries to put a brave front. She gets drowned but she keeps her arm with the child above the water level, whom she names as Mahender Baahubali. A group of tribal people rescues the child, whereas Sivagami loses her life. One amongst the tribal, Sanga (Rohini) adopts the child and brings him up as Shivudu / Shiva. He grows up completely ignorant of his lineage. Even as a child, Shiva was fascinated with the waterfall and the mountain, and he used to try climbing the same in spite of Sanga’s emotional blackmailing. Destiny makes Shiva meet feisty warrior Avantika (Tamannaah), and he also ultimately climbs the mountain with waterfall. He gets a new purpose which makes him land in Mahishmati Kingdom.

Post-intermission gets more gripping and riveting. The movie showcases the story of Mahishmati Kingdom. What could be the purpose of Shiva in going to Mahishmati Kingdom? What power play happens in the kingdom which resulted in the initial scene of injured Sivagami trying to save the child. Who was Shivgami ? How was Mahender Baahubali identified by people at the kingdom, though he went there for the first time? What is the story of two brothers Amarendra Baahubali (Prabhas in double role) and Bhallala Deva (Rana Daggubati)? How does the character of Kattappa (warrior slave of the kingdom) shape up in the film?

Certain scenes are awesome and breathtaking viz. Shiva’s attempt to climb the mountain with waterfall, Bhallala Deva’s (Rana Daggubati) fight with bull with bare hands, Shiva’s attempt to move and carry shrine stone on his shoulder, his deep dive in between the valleys of the mountain, swinging from vines so as to climb the waterfall, people at the kingdom erecting a golden statue etc. The 20-minute battle scene deserves a special mention. Very nicely shot.

Every actor in this film has done so much justice to their characters, be it Rana, Prabhas, Ramya, Sathyaraj, Nassar, Anushka, Rohini etc.

The first half although has some amazing shots, the second half steals the show with the story unfolding in a magnificent manner. Dubbed version has some lip sync issues as well.

The last frame of this movie definitely makes one look forward to its second part releasing in 2016. Although, it seems predictable, but Rajamouli’s treatment of the plot is certainly going to be interesting and worth watching.

Rajamouli’s magnum opus “Baahubali : The Beginning” is spectacular, visually appealing.

The buzz forced me to watch it. And boy, was I enthralled.

Atheists must skedaddle, for this epic war drama takes references from Indian mythological history, which means some sequences will be specious for those thinking minds to bear.

A queen who is on her way to embrace death uses her supernatural powers to hand over an infant to a tribe habituating under a gigantic waterfall's catchment. This child whose destiny has some relation with what lies beyond the waterfall is the protagonist of the story whose crux lies in that beautiful thing majority of the filmmakers around the world love and majority of the audience around the world hate: cliché. So to speak, the plot where this kid grows to become a hunky man (Prabhas) who explores his background history and gets absorbed into a period world of power, war, and betrayal is purely basic on a pH scale. Of course, the God-like story makes only half sense. And it is up to the viewers to carry out the process of making the other half sensible.

It is apparent that telling a new story was never the intention of the makers. They use a tried-and-tested theory to showcase what they can do with the technical aspects. From the entrancing score to the monumental designs to the artsy CGI - everything works greatly in the film, entertaining its audience who feel feeble in front of the lively yet beastly characters. Although, there are instances where there was no blend between the CGI and the setup.

The mammoth setup and its design is the highlight of the film which demands total attention. Even though the film is long enough for the naysayers to rant about, there won't be any instance when one will feel bored with the events. The score itself is enough to hold you captive. The battle sequences and warfare are so good that anyone who has watched the TV series Game of Thrones (2011) will definitely be able to relate. So much for the epicness, I could even sense few sequences inspired from the series. Performances are better if you compare the actors' previous performances in other films. The blink-and-you-miss love story adds romance to the otherwise tense plot.

BOTTOM LINE: The first part of Bahubali is an extravagant feast for the dim Indian eyes which sets the bar high for future epic war dramas, if one is ready to ignore the loads of scenes that defy logic or science or both, ironically on a massive scale.

VERDICT: 6 stars out of 10. Watch it for the goosebumps.

Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES

It’s a multi-lingual Epic of year 2015 from first scene to last scene.
The final-movie-product output after almost 2-3 years movie making process including pre and post production and amazing publicity, all resulted into a “Biggest Indian Movie Ever Made”. The credit goes to Director SS Rajamouli and the entire team of actors and crew members.
Baahubali – The Beginning is first installment from two-part movie saga made over 5 hours long. There were many special things worth to mention like an Acting by Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Tamannah, Anushka, Satyraj, Nassar, Ramya Krishnan, etc. Every one person gave his 100% so it became really a product of great team-work. People will like Satyraj’s (Kattappa) character more because of the character was given huge importance as a loyal servant of kingdom and Flashback-story-teller which helped to cherish the screenplay. The highlight of the movie was post-interval climax 30 minutes war scene (the details of war are spoilers and need to be experienced by you viewers in theaters.)
The story and screenplay was engaging and keep viewers on the edge of their seats the whole time. Flashback comes at the right place and at the right time whenever it was required, so there was little wastage of time. Two of the songs come in bizarre way were actually unnecessary and targeted for Mass-Audience-Entertainment which slowed the flow of a story.
The special effects looked amazing in natural light effect. But CGI effects in many places were husky and with the flaws which were recognizable. But the best effects surpassed the bad effects and viewers will come out of theaters with good effects in their mind. The grandness of Kingdom was given proper footage and special mention for the gigantic waterfall scenes in first half of the movie was “gasping” that waterfall was a part of Sivudu’s (Prabhas) story as he tries to climb it many times during starting of a movie.
The music was not so great and could have been better. Though the entire BGM was attractive and kept the screenplay gripping throughout the movie.
Casting and Acting was flawless and perfect. Credit goes to all actors and Director who took out the best experience from all of the actors.
The movie ends with the BANG (a twist) and will keep the viewers starving by thinking what will happen next. For this we have to wait till July-2016 as Baahubali: The Conclusion, the second part is scheduled to release that time.
Overall it was a must-watch movie this year. This type of movie experience will not come again and again (unless Rajamouli is making it!). Don’t miss the beginning and don’t miss the ending! Enjoy this two-parter Epic Saga.
    Movie Rating - 4/5.

They were of old times not god times... lets assume they had some super human powers but still so badly directed and such a childish story i almost died laughing.
    Bad stunt and fighting scenes
    Poor CGI

Only thing what made audience happy was the cliff for its sequel what happens next... in real this part is just full of you know it well and definitely not intrested in its sequal too...

Baahubali l The Beginning is almost a heroic, attractive, and wholly entertaining visual exhibition!

The story revolves around a powerful young man named Shiva, who unwittingly converts into a protector for a Kingdom he never knew was his. His return to his nation is the commencement of a bout against the sins.

Basically, the story is a revenge story filled with some melodrama, but Baahubali is something else. This film is praised to be the most extravagant creation in the history of Indian cinema.

The cons of Baahubali- 1. Typical melodrama. 2. Unnecessary lovemaking 3. Some action scenes are really too much. The hero does some Mission Impossible n Furious 7 mixed actions! 4. The story in some places.

The pros of Baahubali Almost everything else 1. VFX VFX VFX 2. Theacting is quite good 3. Great BGM 4. Cinematography 5. Stunts except some haphazard ones 6. Direction 7. The courage to make such a movie

Overall, I would say, this is a magnificent effort to have an Indian movie like the '300'. I never enjoyed a dubbed South Indian movie like this. Go watch it for its war sequences, i.e. The second half to be fair and square. Kudos to the notion of making movies like this. Don't watch it on your computer by downloading it. Go watch it on the big screen to enjoy it in a big way.

The movie resembles Indian mythology and Indian culture. The story of a child being abandoned in the river by his mother is that of Karna, a character in the Mahabharata. Similarly, the feats of superhuman strength and adventures in the jungle could well be inspired by Hanuman, a Hindu god in the Ramayana.

Prabhas had completely dedicated his time to this movie and he looks really like a King,I couldn't take my eyes off him. I must appreciate Prabhas for his dedication and transformation he had undergone to suit for the dual roles he played in the movie. He was good at action scenes but I felt dialogue delivery was not that great (could be due to pathetic dialogs).Prabhas as Bahubali brings alive his character in an innocent manner and with his charismatic energy.Rana is the perfect choice for this role with his demonic expressions and body language. Ramya Krishna simply the best in the movie.I would say Baahubali is not only a feast for hungry Prabhas fans, its a film for every TFI fan.

For those who haven't watched it yet, no matter how big your expectations are, bahubali reaches it.

For the moment, kudos to Rajmouli for producing a well made fantasy and set benchmark in the field of visual effects in Indian cinema. Can't wait for the next one!

first of all rajamouli sir done a great job.the cast like rana, ramyakrishna, anushka, prabhas as everyone done good.but tammana body language doesn't well in some screenshots while walking, furious episodes.the main thing in this movie is graphics.some motion type picturising faults observed on the screen.mainly the war episodes screening from top view and hero continuosly rotating a weapon fight doesn't attract me.there no much curiosity scene in second half.''''one thing i want to say graphic effects are more effective only in close shots which fell audiance are near to that place.
there is no much minus points are there in this movie.we shall have to watch 2nd part.put some emotional and highlight scenes in movie like your previous movies..

THE BEGINNING OF GLORIOUS HISTORICAL INDIAN CINEMA [HTTPS://AMITKHER.GURU/BAHUBALI]
Got released on the 10th July 2015 will surely be remembered as a golden moment for Indian Cinema. Amidst I LOVE NY, GUDDU RANGEELA as new offerings together with ABCD 2, TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS, HAMARI ADHURI KAHANI, DIL DHADAKNE DO & THODA LUTF UTHAO, BAHUBALI stands tall shining as good as the idol monument.
Bahubali actually is and certain to be a viewers first choice beating all above including hollywood current offerings as the JURASSIC WORLD, TERMINATOR GENISYS, INSIDE OUT, INSIDOUS CHAPTER 3, HERMITAGE REVEALED & MAX.
In line with K. Asif's MUGHAL-E-AZAM, Ashutosh Gowarikar's JODHA AKBAR, Manmohan Desai's Dharam Veer, Manoj Kumar's Kranti and a few others BAHUBALI is much beyond expectation of a viewer across the globe. Featured action, adventure, ancient warfare reminds of the glorious past last known to Indian history of kingdoms dating around 100BC. Though it is not said to relate any mythology, historical character or epic however resemblance... is purely co-incidental. Similarities of one or the other aspect can be noticed with movies namely Avatar,Troy, 300(spartans), lord of the rings, the scorpion king or mummy and character resemblances to Shri balaram & Shri krishna, Hanumanji, Bheeshma, Duryodhan, Shakuni, etc for you to figure out. There are loads of action thrill moments and a full fledge war scene as long as 30 minutes to engage you in a unique breathtaking experience.
Prabhas plays lead cast as Shiva a second generation BAHUBALI. A super human prince and king in the making with all the flexibility, physique and strength no less than Krissh. Shiva takes up an initial mission of mountain climbing being motivated on the way through by a fabulous fairy. Shiva alias BAHUBALI finds way up sooner than expected where his own mission aligns to that of his finally discovered warrior sweetheart Avantika played by Tammana Bhatia. Shiva responds to the fairy's call being of urgent concern rather than that of his own estranged and captivated mother calling from a long distance.
Tamanna adds up all the glamour to the first half while falling for BAHUBALI in an on the spot romance. Romantic acts are artfully done, featured in between exquisite costumes, look, locations and set designs. Memorable ! A group of 'items' act to keep it going in the second half well done too.
Finally BAHUBALI gets through the mountains to discover a kingdom of magnanimouns splendour to find his own biological mother captivated. Audience is treated with the best visualisation composed of grandeur, politics, revolt, revenge, rivalty, atrocity, loyalty, clan, vanity, beliefs, treachery, weaponry and warfare. The beginning sums up to a developed plot nailed by all well played characters being unveiled a bit late during the early second half laid a very strong foundation for the conclusion part of BAHUBALI scheduled for next year. The same may be expected to be epicly great and entertaining as well.
Ramaya Krishna(n) well known to the bollywood for the Khalnayak number plays a Mahanayak as a queen and loyal guardian together with Sathya Raj as Kattapa fiercely loyal field marshall. Both display a strength of character and unflinching loyalty to the kingdom of Mahishmati.
On the opposite there are Rana Dagubatti playing Bhallal Dev as a runner up to throne of Mahishmati v/s BAHUBALI 1 as envisaged by a wicked Bijjaladeva played by Mohammed Hanif alias Nasser. Even more enhancement to the wickedness by the rival army of 100 thousand tribals and their cheif. The make over of the Devasena so terrified is good enough to put horror movies of Indian cinema to shame. The scene involving captivation of Shiva followed by action in the dark is never before mind boggling cinematography.
BAHUBALI raises the overall standard of film making of Indian cinema manyfold generally. Is particulary perfect with regards to every technical aspect. Notable and creditworthy are the works of back end teams who would not just settle for anything. Loads of credits to this award winning production including make up and looks, cinematography aspects, locations, action scene and effects, warrior costumes and weaponry design, costumes, all music, choreography, set designs and various arts.
BAHUBALI benchmarks Indian cinema to hollywood standard and is good enough to be viewed a number of times.
You should spend a little time of your busy schedule to watch BAHUBALI at least once.

I wanted to rate it for 2 star but for only some visual effects ( but not looks natural at all and Bollywood style makeup make it worst ). Average story and average acting. Tamana has done brilliant overreaction in acting. Songs are awful and dont know why the director put the item song on it. Indian people cant live without putting love stories and bold scene on any kind of movie no matter whether its documentary, drama or action.
This movie can be looks good who not watched the class and level of HOLLYWOOD. Do not compare it with 300 and Lords of rings. They are light year far ahead from Bollywood.
Bollywood is known to make copy of HOLLYWOOD scene, story and even dialogue and they even dont think to edit it. Simply use Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V. plus the jump scene was a copy from the movie THE DARK KNIGHT RISES..............now, when you realize that the first 20 minutes of the movie contains scenes from over 3 different movies just tell me how much curiosity you would be left with?
Its most over-hyped movie ever and Crap Ending for this Movie.
