Cars 3 is no masterpiece, but it’s worth your time.

For most of its run, it never gets off the beaten track, following the predictable course of a Hollywood film. In an inspired turn of events that will harm many a heart, Cars 3 breathes a new life into this franchise, even making what is likely to follow worth the wait.

After two films that couldn’t match up to Pixar’s high standards, Cars 3 – buoyed by Owen Wilson’s earnest performance, and a darker, more emotional story – races away as the best entry in the series.

This installment of the series focused on the new world of futuristic designs and tools taking over the old world of emotions and raw power.

There are several unanswered questions about them, such as how they’ve come into existence, but perhaps it’s best not to expect so much from a series that barely delivers on the promise of being a fun watch, let alone being a thought-provoking franchise. Watch this only if you’re a fan of the first installment.

It’s a movie made for the fans of the franchise. Carefully packaged to give the feeling of satisfaction but nothing more. Spending 109 minutes to smile is not a great price to pay. Go for it.

Mr. Fee, thank you for bringing your cars to life in such an amazing way. I would surely love to be a part of this wonderful car race! The thoroughly enjoyable film will surely lift up your spirits! And yes, it offers a message, ‘it’s never too late to chase your dreams, it’s never too late to start afresh!’ 

Ultimately it’s just the multiple hues of color, the eye-pleasing animation and the fairly appreciable voicing that keeps you awake here.

Much like McQueen, we need to accept the reality and look at the brighter side – that Cars 3 is going to be the sequel that will pump in enough money for Pixar to make more original films in the next few years. And with less Mator around, it seems the future is bright.

Thankfully for Pixar, Cars 3 makes sure that the trilogy ends on a high, which actually wasn’t much of a challenge since the last two movies were just average efforts. But there is an unspoken rule in movie land that the third movie is always the worst, which isn’t the case with Lightning McQueen’s third race. Quite recommended for kids and their parents for a family watch!
