This is not what I expected from a film featuring a very pretty porn star, a buffed-up stud, and a thesp in jazzy threads. It should have been simple, fast in-and-out, grimy fun. What I got was stretched-out lameness, for an hour and a half.

Only go for Jackpot if you sat right until the end of the titles of Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag and yelled encore.

Sadly the stylish packaging and striking cinematography remain unsupported by the plot and characters. Neither are interesting or dangerous enough to be endearing in their immorality.

Sorry, it just doesn’t add up.

Makarand Deshpande’s kooky cop character is genuinely funny, but corny lines aside, one of Jackpot’s few redeeming factors here is that it moves along quickly.

There’s nothing new about Kaizad Gustad’s ‘Jackpot’, except he launched a raunchy Ms Kaif few years back and ten years later decided to have an adult movie star as his lead heroine.

Jackpot leaves you so exhausted by the end that you’ll be yawning uncontrollably. After films like this, I actually develop a soft corner for masala potboilers. Without an ounce of novelty, the film in my eyes committed the crime of wasting actors like Makarand Deshpande and Nasseruddin Shah.

…proves to be an interesting watch with a sharp and clever second half.

…fails to thrill or send a chill down the audience’s spine. It will, therefore, not appeal to the audience and will bomb at the box-office.

To use a poker metaphor (like the writers have done in the film unabated), this is like being dealt 2-7 unsuited in a game of Texas Hold ’em.
