And while films of this ilk are full of disposable-bodies and corpses-in-waiting, one discovers that Vishal has — sneakily, stealthily, surreptitiously — kept the sentiments so darned real that by the time the climax rolls around, you do actually give a damn about these characters.

Wow. Now if that isn’t kameenapan, I don’t know what is. Awefome.

Truly, Kaminey’s a heady vodka martini, leaving you both shaken and stirred. And no, don’t even ask for the popcorns. You’ll leave them untouched coz this one just isn’t the regular-run-of-the-mill popcorn flick.

There’s still nothing to take away from the movement this movie means to Hindi films. Missing it is your own entertainment loss. Given the director’s unfortunate commercial track-record with gems like Maqbool and Omkara, I really hope this time, ‘Vishal overcome!’

  • Kaminey will take some getting used to. It isn’t the comfort food that Bollywood normally dishes out. But I strongly recommend that you see it. This taste is worth acquiring.

  • An intoxicating, stoned watch — do it and do it now!

Kaminey is a potential blockbuster. It has all the right ingredients along with superior direction, to please every cinegoer.

  • Those who’ve tasted the work of Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino may enjoy Kaminey without labelling it as being spectacularly genius.

As crime dramas go, the film is supremely clever, complex and funny. Worth a munch.
