It's befitting that Alejandro Inarritu's satirical love letter to the arts is headlined by Tom Cruise, a movie star ready to even ride his bike off a cliff in service of the story. That's probably why Tom Cruise has realized now that just defying gravity won't suffice as an artist. He needs to keep his ear to the ground and act in his best capacity before the world as we know it goes down in flames.

Tom Cruise takes his career's biggest leap in Digger, touching down from his gravity-defying stunts to explore the rock bottom of human vice in Alejandro Iñárritu's satire. There couldn't have been a more poetic fit for Digger Rockwell than Tom Cruise, who delivers a performance that validates the filmmaker's unconventional choice for this character study of unchecked greed and capitalistic complicity.

Discerning viewers would label Juhi as conflicted on the burning issue of passive euthanasia. But with October, she shows that she does not care. Her film transcends logic, debate and even ethics. It is touted as a story about love. More than love, October propositions itself as a story about hope.

Pari intelligently slips in socio-political commentary, addressing the Bangladesh refugee crisis. The underlying message that the film tries to bring home is that one's identity is not dictated by boundaries laid down either by humans, nature or even the supernatural. One may not realise the film's symbolic relevance while watching it, given its immersive treatment, but it does offer a resolution.

Poster Boys ends up neutralising the grave subject that its premises aim to bring forth. Though the narrative regains shape in the climax and also entails effective cameos from the Golmaal Again team and Sachin Khedekar, it is too late by that time. The audience gives up on the film by the point it starts making sense again, which is just a sign of weak filmmaking by a debutante director who lacks the technical acumen to shoulder a film with a promising premise.

Bareilly Ki Barfi is a character-driven as all the characters are pivotal to the plot and backed by substantial writing. The three lead actors drive most of the narrative - Ayushmann's endearing expressions, Kriti's livewire presence and Rajkummar's unpredictable dialogue delivery provide the perfect ingrediendts for a sweet rom com that has its share of masala.
