One Night Only

2026 · AvClub · Aug 2026

But right at the "decent rom-com" finish line, One Night Only hands its audience a studio note from the Production Code era: Knock out that sex business, it gets in the way of love! The movie's baffling anti-sex ending contradicts how the government's restriction of sex drives society to literal horny jail. One Night Only feels like a youth group lecture where the pastor warns of hookup culture on college campuses, a feature-length studio note from an executive afraid the movie won't go over well in the Bible Belt.

Office Romance

2026 · AvClub · Jun 2026

While the romance here feels tenuous at best, the comedy is in even worse shape, often mistaking uncomfortable oversharing for punchlines. If this was meant to be a return to form for Lopez, it's not a satisfying comeback. Charming as it tries to be, there's an unmistakable sense of misogyny in Office Romance that gets in the way of falling in love with the movie.
