Prisoners is an intense film, even though it is on the longer side, it gets you hook, line and sinker. It gives you the same feeling when you read a highly engrossing novel, which you wish would never end.
-
The film is a triumph of storytelling and it has everything in good measure. Daniel Bruhl as Niki is spot on and ditto with Chris Hemsworth in a more memorable performance.
Rush is certainly one of the best films from Hollywood this year. Go for it!
-
It is pretty much harmless entertainment. Denzil Washington and Mark Wahlberg liven the proceedings with a few wise cracks. The film is adapted from a comic book so you wouldn’t expect something terribly serious but a decent time at the movies.
-
Virtually every scene in the film offers more than just what is shown or said. And it is not a serious film all the way, take the dabbawallah scene where he argues with the Ila that even Harvard university came to see them and so did English royalty!
Do what you please but don’t miss The Lunchbox. -
This is the best performance by an actress I’ve seen in 2013. For her savoir faire and many other good things, you should pay a visit to this Shuddh Desi Romance.

The results are mixed. I was not bored while watching, in fact it kept me interested, but in the end the pay off wasn’t quite exciting.

As far as the story is concerned I have more or less given up expecting anything novel in animation films. It is usually the underdog story who has to fight against a legendary champion (who also happens to be the ‘bad guy’), the underdog will also have a fear to overcome, he will also have a friend with whom at some stage there will be a misunderstanding but in the end all will be well.

To put it plainly, Madras Cafe raises the bar for commercial Hindi cinema. Firstly, films that mix fiction and reality are an extreme rarity in Bollywood and equally rare is a no nonsense approach in making it. There are no item numbers (heck there are no songs either), no juvenile gags and no melodrama, yet Madras Cafe grabs your attention right from the word go.

Makkhi directed by S S Rajamouli is a hugely creative enterprise that also entertains aplenty. It also throws open possibilities for other filmmakers to think out of the box.

For a change we have a film that doesn’t have the mandatory romance, but instead talks about something serious, but in a funny way. Even though he doesn’t play the lead role, ironically this is also Akshay Kumar’s most watchable film in a long time.
