ChennaiExpress – The movie delivered what promised and that is sheer ENTERTAINMENT.
Since it was a Rohit Shetty movie, I entered the theater having a mindset of seeing those illogical stunts and gravity defying action, but I was really surprised to see a “toned” down Rohit Shetty in this movie. Yes there were few action scenes here and there, but it was not very “over the top” as was synonymous with a Shetty movie. For me, I will not tag it as a complete “no brainer mindless masala flick”, as it surely isn’t.
Coming to acting, SRK’s comic timing was impeccable even when he was hamming through the scenes, it was done with a purpose, but finally it was Deepika Padukone who stole the hearts with her endearing performance. And did I mention it was funny, rather hilarious at times.
A complete Family Entertainer.
Those who don’t feel laughing their hearts out won’t hurt their intellect, will surely love this movie0January 27, 17 -

The movie was already the most hotly anticipated film of the year when it was announced in March because it is finally the third directorial outing of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Mohabbatein director Aditya Chopra.
Aditya’s films always turn out to be good and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is his next movie 8 years after Mohabbatein.
The story is about an ‘odd’ couple played by Shahrukh Khan and Anushka Sharma who find true love in the backdrop of a dance competition called “Dancing Jodi”. Surinder Sahni (Shahrukh Khan), a man working for Punjab Power, who falls in love with Taani (Anushka Sharma) the flamboyant, fun-loving, vivacious girl for whom the whole world is her canvas and she paints her own life with the colours of rainbow all until unforeseen circumstances changes it all and brings them together. They get married and lead a not-so happy life due to huge age difference between Surinder and Taani. Taani, meanwhile, wants to participate in a reality dance show called “Dancing Jodi,” which is the main backdrop of the movie. The dance contest showcases couples of all races, colours, backgrounds and sexual preferences. Taani wants to take part for the show, but she is not able to due to her husband’s lack of fashion statement. Later on when Surinder finds out about his wife’s wish to participate in the reality dance show, he undergoes a major change. Taani keeps falling in love with her changed husband.
Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is such a beautiful film that touches your heart that makes you cry and laugh in some points like Shahrukh against a sumo wrestler. Some of my friends thought that it looked rubbish because in the promos Shahrukh Khan had a moustache, and comb over and was wearing bad cloths but is truly the best the best Bollywood movie of the year after a long list of turkeys. It is also the first Shahrukh film of the year and before this he made special appearances in Krazzy 4 and Bhootnath.
The music is brilliant although they can’t match with the classic soundtracks of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Mohabbatein but there were about 5 songs and every single song was good and I don’t know what the best songs are.
It is a must see unless you do not like Shahrukh or have a heart of stone because there is no way you are going to like it.0January 27, 17 -
From the very beginning to the end, it was terrific. Three best thing about this movie were its plot, A. R. Rahman’s music and SRK. His acting was brilliant.
Some flaws in the script are pulling this movie from becoming a “perfect” one,but wonderful acting of Shah Rukh & Anushka compensate for the flaws in script.
JTHJ a kind of film that has an old world story and charm but with today’s contemporaries and modern sensibilities, no wonder than words like sex are just thrown around, and it doesn’t feel out of place one bit.
Anupam Kher, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, make a very brief appearance in the movie, but yet their characters punch an impact in the story and perhaps that is where the mastery of the story writers Devika Bhagat and Aditya Chopra, really is at the best. For they have created characters, who, though have a small part in the story, but they make an impact.0January 27, 17 -
Fan is a movie reminiscence of the Shah Rukh Khan the actor we lost to SRK the superstar. Fan is an ode to the initial acting talent of SRK we saw in Baazigar, Darr and Anjaam.
Fan begins with introducing us to the beloved Gaurav Chandana, the West Delhi residence who is in love with Aryan (SRK Playing himself) since childhood. With the twist in tale that Gaurav looks similar to Aryan, For Gaurav Aryan is everything. He takes a special journey to meet with his beloved superstar only to find that he is not the only one in the list. Things get interesting when Gaurav feels betrayed and determined to teach a lesson to his God. The movie introduces some interesting aspects in terms of what it means to be a superstar and what it means to be a Fan. Gaurav is kind of an Anti-hero who is made to be loved, scared, loathed and disgusted by the director in various parts of the movie. Credit goes to SRK for his portrayal of Gaurav. He gets the mannerisms, body language, dialogues right. The initial scenes of Gaurav feels kind of over played but by the end of the movie, SRK gets Gaurav right. In fact in one of the subtle scenes in the movie, SRK acts a bit like Gaurav while speaking to a Police inspector. If it was intentional than well done SRK. Kudos goes to the director for keeping the movie songs free. He deserves 0.5 star extra for that. The movie is a thriller but seems kind of stretched over a period 140 minutes. The ending is melodramatic which puts me off but the director desperately tries to make us love Gaurav even though he is kind of annoying. Overall the effort is decent and SRK deserves some credit for Gaurav. He is certainly in contention for the 2016 filmfare but to be honest who cares. Please Watch Fan for if you want to remember when SRK used to act and not just play himself every time. It deserves 7.5 star from my side. If only the movie was edited a lot better and SRK showed some restrain with Gaurav it could have been his memorable performance. Alas it is not a Chak De or Pardes but it is SRK telling everyone he is still the king of acting0January 27, 17 -
One of the best movies of 2016 for sure. There is a simplicity and originality in the film that stays with you hours after you’ve watched the movie.
Alia Bhatt shines as an actress, giving yet another outstanding performance that leaves you speechless. She dives into her character with ease and conviction and ticks all the right boxes delivering an emotional performance. Can’t wait to see more of her films soon.A genuine actor who is a superstar. And then there is King Khan. Shah Rukh Khan plays a perfect support both to on-screen kaira and off-screen alia in the role of Jehangir. It was very cool of Srk to do this film and we are left feeling even we need a mentor/guru like Jehangir. It’s the chemistry between Alia and Srk that keeps the film moving and the audience involved. The soundtrack is brilliant.Good supporting actors and cinematography. Great work by writer-director Gauri Shinde. A must-watch for sure0January 27, 17 -
Raees delivered on every single promise. One of the best movies by SRK that can be universally appreciated after some time. The execution of the movie and the direction were top notch.
As for the acting i feel there could have been a better effort on SRK’s part but nonetheless it was still pretty good. Spoiler- One of my fav. scenes was when Raees kills off the man who he worked for during his youth-the expression and camera angles were simply fantastic! That scene tugged the hearts of the viewers and couldn’t have been done better.
At the end of the day the i wish the movie was a little longer-as i did not want to leave the world of Raees!!0January 27, 17 -
It reminds me 15-20 Years old Indian movies on story line that some neighborhood goon rapes heroin followed by revenge of hero, those movies still much better to show contemporary life along with rapes and revenge.
However, this movie make us suffer (I mean it) for complete first half to watch undesired persecution to A blind woman until she suicides.
2nd part not that unbearable as it focuses how a blind man take a revenge using his fighting skill and copying anyone’s voice.
Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam played their role very well, but can’t help with a 20 years old Indian story pattern.
Though such incident is not impossible in our country, where rough politician keep government official in their pocket and do all such things with common people. But message being passed by movie is also not correct, she choose to suicide after knowing it will happen (rape) frequently, instead she should decide to kill such people for making her life miserable.
I would ( and people like me ) still have liked the move, had the tragic part which was lasted for half of the movie, would have limited only for 5-10 minutes.0January 27, 17
