'Delhi Belly' is actually a film which carries superb narrative craft. We have three friends who live in a questionable room in Delhi. One is Tashi (Imran Khan), a journalist, the other is Anup (Vir Das), a cartoonist and the third is Nitin (Kunaal Roy Kapoor), a photographer. The three friends get into a problem with a gangster called Somayajulu (Vijay Raaz). These people get into a problem when Tashi's air hostess girlfriend Sonia is asked to transfer a package to a gangster called Somayajulu. And that's where both the elements of the thriller and black comedy start getting to your head. In these moments, the film indeed intriguesyou.
On the surface everything is just pitch perfect. Director Abhinay Deo, let me report, has easily risen from the terrible 'Game', and he does a fantastical job in creating the modern boys and their world.
The first half is so amazing, it gives fresh insights ti what talent can be seen on the screens. Yes, it's not half as fun as the second half, but it so works!
The second half, although much fun, lacks the energy which inhabited the first half.
But clearly Imran, Kunaal and Vir manage to hold the film together. The writing of the film is unimaginably consistent. Not one film in the film had lines as fun as 'Delhi Belly' this year. But at a point the direction becomes so slow, you want to keep the head away.
Apart from the sloppiness, and minus it, the film is perfectly fun. Despite its contrivances, the film manages to keep you entertained throughout and succeeds in being one of the better Hindi films this year. It's a 6 out of 10. Make sure you grab that popcorn.

Even though I'm not a fan of crass, toilet humor, I have to say this film was very clever and fun. All the quirky characters and their disastrous botch-ups (inspired by movies like Snatch) keep you guessing and interested till the end. Tight script, great plot, interesting characters - what else could you ask for your money.
