It's been a while since we saw Shahrukh Khan in an appropriately gripping character. And after disappointing us repetitively, he has returned in not one, but two organic characters- both in performances and writing- the two characters, who are in conflict with each other in the film 'Fan'.
The story written by Habib Faisal is intriguing and thrilling in equal parts. There is a superstar called Aryan Khanna, lavish, luxurious, fandom-worthy and a true superstar, as is Shahrukh in real life. And Aaryan has a Delhi-based die-hard fan called Gaurav Chandna, who is a strikingly splitting image of Aaryan. Gaurav goes to Mumbai with a desire to meet his superstar, but gets into problems and ends up in jail, where Aaryan insults him for crossing the limits just to meet him.
And then starts a thrilling chase and revenge saga: a revenge by a fan, a plate in which a fan will serve the exact treatment his superstar gave him.
The plot, although simple, is deliciously twisted. Those chase scenes are so intriguing, they are worth dying for. The exotic scenes make way for desi thrills when the fan tarnishes the reputation of his hero.
And in these portions, Shahrukh indeed excites. The way he adds soul to the role of Aaryan Khanna is certainly appreciable, but when he takes the stage as the splitting image fan, he truly makes his performance talks.
And that's because the filmmaker Maneesh Sharma has given this fan a sense of originality. This fan replicates his superhero in the local Dussehra fair talent hunts, and has a beguling love interest, Neha, played by Shriya Pilgaonkar with utmost smarts. He will not let anyone watch porn in a public cyber cafe, be he beaten by a bunch of goons. But this bunch of sweetness gets spiced up when in the second half, through the observation of Aaryan, Gaurav becomes mysterious, criminally taut and also emotionally haunting. The sensitivity of Gaurav in the first half takes the top layer in the second half.
And how it all comes together as a bittersweet but nonetheless haunting in tone climax in the end is something really appreciable. The film is unmistakably mass, and entertainment is mainstream.
But therein lies the strength of the film makes score. Because there are all masalas, and they are all mixed up to make an entertaining film which is solidly crafted.
Let me warn you, the film is very long and in the first half, you want to doze off. At a point, the film has an unbearable 'nothing-is-happening-here' pause in the sequences and there are series of WTF moments in the second half.
But the emotional core-rattling covers it all. You must watch 'Fan' not only because of its 'fan'tastic message, but also its 'fan'atic ingenuity. All's 'fan'ned by an enjoyable premise.

This year's first biggest and most praised film was AIRLIFT starring Akshay Kumar. The success of that film might have encouraged many actors to try something offbeat, but it seems that our SRK is the first one to try among other actors after Akshay. In his recent action - drama - thriller FAN, SRK gives what we call perhaps the best performance any actor can ever give. Besides, it's not just a film that relies totally on him and his stardom, but also on several things like a powerful script, execution, and everything a perfect film has.

FAN, to be honest, is something no one has ever seen not just in case of SRK, but even in case of regular Indian films. Even AIRLIFT had a couple of songs, although they were melodious and didn't hinder the screenplay. But here, FAN doesn't have even one single song at all! The only scope for music is visible in the emotional scenes and the action sequences. This is, believe me, a huge plus point apart from the performance of SRK.

Though his last film to impress me the most was RA-ONE (2011), (I LIKED DILWALE TOO), this is his second most impressive film. Besides, another thing is that apart from RA-ONE, I had not seen any film on the first day of its release. Luckily, FAN is the second film I have seen on the first day of its release. This added to the much of my excitement and praise towards the film.

Shah Rukh Khan, or SRK, as we call him, gives the best performance in his career so far. He is extremely amazing in the emotional and action sequences, and there isn't any doubt that this performance can even bring to him various best actor awards. In my opinion, this is a national award winning act. Since everyone knows he plays two roles, it isn't a spoiler that he rocks in both the roles, although the role of the fan is the most impressive. Other actors are good, although there's only SRK to talk about.

The script and screenplay of the film are quite close to everyone's lives, and this to helps to connect with the film. I realized that during the emotional scenes, I too went emotional and felt some tears in my eyes. This is a film which everyone must watch, not just SRK fans, but even those who criticize him the most.

The technical aspects are top notch. The action sequences of this film are engaging and well shot from beginning to the end. There is no scope for the usual masala fare as almost every SRK film used to be till now, except a few. The editing is quite sharp and there's hardly a dull moment. The film comes with a strong message for everyone, especially the youth. Besides, despite of a UA certificate, this is completely a family friendly film, and can be watched by each and everyone, along with the family.

Overall, FAN is something truly out of the box; it begins with a smile and ends with tears. If you are a true cinema enthusiast, then forget everything and just watch this film. This film doesn't only teach how one should live with one's own identity, but also teaches how every film should be.

Yes, when I left my seat, I was quite emotional.

Amid much fanfare, the eagerly anticipated SRK starrer "Fan" finally hit the screens this weekend. With his IPL team, KKR off to a strong start this season; he would be hoping for a similar swing of fortune for his latest release as well after all "Dilwale" understandably fared below expectations. As always, SRK has gone all out for the movie's publicity with almost all channels training their cameras on him, though I felt it was much lesser this time around. The trailer received an overwhelming response from both the audience & industry alike with close to 4 million views on the first two days. Now it remains to be seen if it translates to footfalls at the theatres.

Aryan Khanna (SRK) is the reigning superstar of Bollywood & has millions of fans around the globe. Even Gaurav Chanda (SRK) was one among them except that his adulation for his idol bordered on obsession. He took pride from the fact that he was called "Junior Aryan" for the distinct similarity in their looks & also coz he always walked away with the best performer trophy courtesy of his tribute to the superstar in the annual competition at his colony. After having won the trophy yet again, he decides to dedicate it to his idol in person on his birthday & boards the train to Mumbai. But things doesnt quite pan out in the way that he had hoped for & when he does get to meet his idol, it was in a manner that he had least expected.

Maneesh Sharma is quite a well known name in the industry even though he has just 3 movies to his credit as a director with "Band Baaja Baaraat" being his debut venture. He is aided in his present project by Habib Faisal who had penned both the script & screenplay. The basic thread of the movie is the relationship between a star & his fan which goes sour to the extent that the fan becomes the greatest threat to his idol's existence. Though not a rip off, it did have a subtle similarity as far as the plot is concerned to Robert De Niro's "The Fan". Anywaz the idea as such was intriguing & promised to be an edge of the seat thriller which Maneesh executed impressively as well in the first half. However, the manner in which the revenge was played out subsequently lacks sense & thought from both the crafters. The fan cant be called as a doppelganger as he doesnt quite confuse the people around him early on, but surprisingly that's exactly what happens in the second half as he fools his fans, friends, security & for some time, his wife as well (eh???). As for other aspects, I did like Andrea Guerras's BGM & the "Jabra Fan" track by Vishal-Shekhar which I saw on youtube (as the movie doesn't have any songs). The prosthetics & CGI used for Gaurav's character deserves praise but it lacked consistency.

Though the script did not quite satisfy me, I have no such complaints against Shahrukh who was damn awesome. If Gaurav once again showcased his ability to portray characters with negative shades with elan, then Aryan showed his courage to try something out of his comfort zone & take potshots at stardom (at times on himself also) be it his attitude to fans, employees, officials or even dancing at weddings. When we have SRK in double role that pretty much denies screen space to anyone else but even then performers like Yogendra Tiku, Deepika Amin & Sayani Gupta gets noticed for their credible support.

Verdict: The film should make it to the 150 C mark in due time, though since it isn't exactly a masala movie as it has no romance or songs, the bulk of the collections would have to come from the urban circuit & overseas. As far as my opinion goes, there are surely loopholes in the script but SRK has done a brilliant job which makes this movie worth watching for sure. In short, watch it for SRK!!!

Fan, a film by Maneesh Sharma (Band Baja Baraat, Ladies Vs. Ricky Bahl and Shudh Deshi Romance fame), explores the relationship between a celebrity and one of his fan. Probably it is all around the world, people do adore celebrities and turn out to be fan of their favourite celebrities. In India too, we are absolutely in love with cricket, music and films, and cricket players, singers and film stars as celebrities turn out to be idols of people. The presence of these personalities attracts lot of attention from the common people like us. Appreciating celebrities for their works, being fan of their works is good, but when appreciation and admiration take the shape of obsession, that is when challenges begin. The film fan is the story of one such fan of a film star, whom he imitated throughout his life. The film star was his idol, his life, rather the reason to live. His degree of devotion to his celebrity star made him have deluded belief that he has a special relationship with the star whereas it did not even exist. Indeed the concept of the film is a very beautiful concept. There is a fan in almost all of us. As fans, we might forget the basic underlying fact that even the celebrities are human beings. They need their own space. But this is also equally true that celebrities need to realize that being a public figure, certainly, they have to compromise with their privacies as well. Fans and celebrities’ status usually co-exist. Indeed, celebrity-fan relationship gets trickier when the fan wants to get personalized attention from his celebrity idol. Because of the concept, this film had great potential, but somewhere screenplay, dialogues are weak. The story has not been developed beautifully. The decision to keep the film songless is not probably a right decision. Even the famous song ‘Jabra Fan’ does not form the part of the film, which indeed is strange. The film certainly has Shah Rukh’s magic in it, but overall having less of entertainment quotient.

The film begins with a few glimpses from the real Shah Rukh Khan’s journey to stardom (introduced as the superstar Aryan Khanna) followed by Gaurav Chandna’s (Shah Rukh Khan) journey from a child to teenager. He is a great fan of the film star Aryan Khanna. Gaurav very much looks like Aryan, although, the difference is also evident with his protruding teeth. Gaurav is owning a cyber café and the name of his cyber café is inspired by his idol - AK Cyber Chat. His room is full of posters of Aryan Khanna. A die-hard fan, who could not take it, if anyone spoke bad of Aryan Khanna. Even as a child, he fought with his school mates, when someone made a comment. Neha’s (Shriya Pilgaonkar) entry happens when she comes to AK Cyber Chat. Gaurav loves Neha, although never told her so. His parents (Yogendra Tiku and Deepika Amin) understand his love towards Aryan Khanna. Gaurav participates in the local cultural porgramme/ competition where he apes Aryan Khanna and wins prize almost every year. And this year too, he won Rs. 20000/- cash and the trophy. With the prize money, trophy and some sweets, he embarks on his journey to meet and wish his celebrity idol Aryan Khanna on his birthday. The interesting aspect is that he travels by the same train that too ‘without ticket’, exactly the same train which Aryan Khanna had boarded ‘without ticket’. After reaching Mumbai, he goes to the same hotel and stays in the same room where Aryan had stayed. On Aryan’s birthday, when he reaches in front of Mannat, he is shocked to see millions of fans waiting to catch a glimpse of superstar Aryan Khanna. This is where entry of Shah Rukh Khan as Aryan Khanna happens. When Gaurav fails to manage getting a 5-minute face-to-face meeting with Aryan, he chooses a different means to get attention of Aryan. Ultimately he does manage to get the attention of his superstar idol, but that is where, his disillusionment begins. The meeting which finally happens between superstar and his fan does not turn out to be a pleasant one. Gaurav gets hurt to the extent that he becomes obsessive of his idol, and there starts his journey of making the superstar run behind him.

How and in what condition Gaurav finally gets to meet Aryan? What exactly transpired between Gaurav and Aryan? How does the miffed up Gaurav make his idol Aryan run behind him? How does Gaurav take advantage of his resemblance to Aryan? Is Gaurav able to bring disgrace to the superstar Aryan? If yes, how? How does Aryan deal with obsessive Gaurav? Watch the film to get these answers.

Shah Rukh Khan’s performance is good both as Aryan and Gaurav. Shar Rukh appears more of self as Aryan, and as Gaurav, definitely he has put in lot of efforts. He has indeed played both the characters very nicely and brought out the differences of two characters on screen very nicely. But, somewhere, due to many loopholes in the screenplay, the impact is not created. Since, Shah Rukh is there in every frame, there is nothing much to do for rest of the cast. Shriya Pilgaonkar as Gaurav’s love interest Neha and Waluscha de Sousa as Aryan’s wife have done justice to their brief screen time. Gaurav’s parents’ roles played by Yogendra Tiku and Deepika Amin are just adorable. Sayani Gupta (as Aryan’s PA) is indeed noticeable.

Why the whole film is without a song is beyond my understanding. Apart from some initial scenes, there are hardly any scenes which would bring smile to your face. Such a beautiful concept, if clubbed with some good sense of humour and music could have done wonders. The screenplay could have been developed by giving more depth to the characters Aryan and Gaurav. If Guarav’s love towards Aryan is still developed nicely, the encounters / meetings / chase between Aryan and Gaurav are not developed with much clarity and depth.

Fan, a film with a great concept depicting celebrity-fan relationship, went awry due to a screenplay with less of entertainment quotient. My rating 3*** for the film is based on two major parameters: Shah Rukh’s energy as Gaurav and another one is the message of the film – Be yourself. You can get inspired by anyone, but grow to define your own personality rather than merely aping someone.

The very nature of celebrity culture is one that begs for a closer , more layered introspection.
Director Maneesh Sharma of Band Baaja Baaraat fame recognises this fact well, which is why his latest film, Fan, casts a cynical spotlight on the dark side of obsessive passion and its often tragic repercussions.
The underlying concept of the film – that of the biggest movie star in this nation playing both the worshipper and the worshipped – is one that merits applause for its ingenuity.
Do the privileged few in society pay enough attention to the very same followers who are responsible for shaping their legend? Do we fail to take enough control of our own lives even as we doggedly obsess over the lives of our superstars?
Is there, indeed, more to being a fan than meets the eye?
These are some of the themes that the film chooses to explore.
Fan sometimes requires a complete suspension of disbelief, especially post intermission.
There are a few sequences that are largely contrived in nature- especially the long elaborate chase down the streets of Dubrovnik that left me rolling my eyes in skepticism.
But this is a film that is largely salvaged by Shah Rukh Khan’s miraculous performance.
Indeed, Chak De India’s Kabir Khan has been consigned to the history books – this is the benchmark that his career might just be remembered by.
For three decades now, the Pied Piper of Bollywood has made an entire nation sway to the allure of his beats.

Girls+Guys, this movie is mind blowing. this man is unbelievable. he acts his heart out. gaurav/aryan he plays them both with so much passion. little spoiler alert the action is thrilling.
he jumps from buildings n roofs he runs like a devil to catch gaurav to bring him to justice. the make up for gaurav is perfectly done, he looks so innocent, so sweet n than u can see him turn into a psycho who wants n trys to ruin aryans live, career n family. this is no romantic movie. this is a die hard action-thriller with massive stunts done by shah himself. n it looks stunning! but there is one scene when gaurav is in jail n he crys coz he got beaten up by the police...this is acting at the highest level. see it, watch it, feel it, u can't avoid it! u cry.
so run to ur next cinema and watch it as often as u can!

When Shahrukh Khan signed this movie back in early 2014, HNY was about 6 months far and he had not even signed Dilwale that time.
It was only due to absorbing effort required to finish the movie ,precisely being the involvement of prosthetics and heavy usage of VFX effects, it took close to 2 years to complete the project. Between this, Shahrukh khan gave us two of his most ridiculous, rubbish, silly, absurd and foolish movies HNY & Dilwale. These movies completely stole the faith his fans had in him and started to write him off which was quite justified. Because, this was not the Shahrukh Khan we all had grew up watching, surely not the one whom we adored him in movies like Swades & Chak De India. But amidst all this, I would not still blame Shahrukh Khan to the colossal entirety. It was the selection of directors by his production unit who are to be blamed for coming up with up such shoddy & half baked scripts. I would not refrain to say that Rohit Shetty & Farah Khan wasted three productive years of SRK. Given the fact the accumulated earnings of three movies Chennai Exp, HNY & Dilwale comes to around Rs 1500 Crores , his production company might have had tasted real financial success, but SRK in person in reality ended up incurring heavy losses in terms of depletion of his loyal fan base. Those fans who trusted him , trusted his skills, trusted his prowess and treated him as no less than living Almighty.
The very fact that SRK has always been a quality actor and his caliber is not worthy to be doubted gets proved because it was way before he got too commercialized, he had signed this movie. He is and always been a hard-working, dedicated & thorough professional and all he needed was a bunch of equally talented team of directors, script writers. It was the lack of efficient directors who led us deplete faith in him as an actor. We all started to doubt him as an actor and brought him on the brink of getting written off for eternity. And while the same was under process, we have been served with this brilliant, astonishing ,magnificent, glorious and breathtaking piece of cinematic display of acting prowess from the same man who we all were planning and waiting to write off!
Yes, FAN is such one movie which would help you restore your faith in SRK as an actor. The movie is not worthy for watching for its story or dialogues or screenplay or actor or VFX effects. One needs to watch this movie simply just to rebuild that lost confidence in Shahrukh Khan as an actor. The actor who holds a phenomenal record of winning Best actor award for record 8 times currently being shared with Veteran Actor Dilip Kumar. The actor who rose to stardom solely based on his acting skills, intense screen presence, sheer hard work and discipline.
FAN is not the greatest of the movies to come out in recent times and would surely not even in feature in Best 5 eventual movies of 2016. But it is the power packed display of skills, effervescence, energy, dedication, commitment, marvellous acting of Shahrukh Khan that which would always be remembered for years to come. At a demanding age of 50 ,his portrayal of Gaurav Chandna as crazy obsessive fan would surely put many 25 years old to acceptable shame.
To all those who are expecting the movie to be humorous, funny and an entertaining, please do not expect such things to happen. The movie is extremely intense, thrilling and jaw dropping!

So FAN isn't your typical run-of-the-mill, commercial potboiler (read: the last couple of SRK films)
It is absurd, psychic, weird, cryptic, and oh-so-darned-intriguing.
The concept is simple "The fans maketh the star", but the execution is complex and just so bamboozling.
There is a reason why Shah Rukh Khan is known for his intense roles. This film brings back the menacing Darr-Baazigar-Anjaam-esque SRK back and he is pure masterclass.
You may love him. You may hate him. But you can't help but admire the guy's acting ability.
The film drags a bit in the second-half, and sways away from reality for a sizeable amount of time, but you can still make do with it.
Aryan Khanna is the name of the narcissistic superstar in the film. But when you come out of the theatre, the immensely insane yet innocent Gaurav Chandana baffles your mind.
This film is not everyone's cup of tea. Some people might deliberately hate it, but hey, that is the persona of SRK. The most polarising actor ever.
Thank You Maneesh Sharma for bringing back "The Actor SRK" whom we desperately missed since My Name Is Khan. Kudos to the team for choosing something so risky and so brave.
Films like these are not made for Huge Box Office Collections, they are made for sheer uniqueness.

Shahrukh Khan is Bollywood’s King. Not only is he renowned by many people but also has a creditable name publicized very well globally. Similarly, his films are also grand and merit publicity and are generally known and also are one of the most anticipating films of the year. His ‘Fan’ too is a big film. But the impact goes slightly tepid and makes the film an imperfect failure. I went inside the hall admiring a new thing from which I can learn something. But not anything pleases me at all.

Shahrukh khan plays a dual role. On one side he is the leading jutting out Superstar Aryan Khanna. And in the other hand is his biggest fan – Gaurav, who has a great keenness to emote him and also admires him deeply as his all mighty. Like the trailers and the teasers everything in the film remains of a self-same type (especially the foreseeable format of the plot).

Shahrukh delivers an acting performance worth high praises. His makeover as Gaurav is very monumental. And he is fully earnestly appealing.

The film is fabricated under the banner Yash Raj Films. But the director and the makers are losing, fail to enrapture the viewer’s interests creating the film a haywire. Nevertheless, the dialogues are realistic and pleasant. And the film also takes a new spin post intermission. It is an average watch and deserves only 2.5 stars from me.

The biggest positive from this movie is the acting of Sharukh khan who gave an incredible performance.His performance as the fan called Gaurav is excellent. The idea of the conflict between a Fan and Star was good and this movie entertaining at times. The second half of the movie is a let down and the climax is ridiculous.I liked the idea of a FAN being a creepy-Psychotic guy but i think writers didn't flesh out the dark side of his character properly. The movie loses it's logics in the second half and it becomes redundant becoming a slave to typical bollywood movies with chase sequences which weren't engaging at all. This movie could have been a very good movie if it had concentrated more on it's characters and handling the psychological battle between Fan and a Star. I hated the climax of the movie because it doesn't make any sense and even the run time of the film felt long.Fan could have been a great movie but unfortunately it isn't.

SRK has made a big comeback to the Bolly arena after a series of masala entertainers from the last 4-5 years. One of the best Bollywood thrillers I've watched since the last 5-6 years.
Amazing first half, a slight declination in the sub post-interval session, and a brilliant climax which will put you in an ambiguity at the end of the movie and you'll be thinking about it again and again. The plot could have been a slightly better settled though. But I don't think any other movie without any actress in it and devoid of any songs, will be able to keep you glued to your seat throughout the whole 2 and a half hours. Amazing stuff from the Direcor, Maneesh Sharma. You're fabulous! :) Whatever it is, SRK is into one of his best avatars and he shows the world as to why is he called as the "Biggest movie star in the world". Take a bow! Salutes! :) Worth all your money! Go grab your tickets, and watch Fan. :)

Fan is a movie reminiscence of the Shah Rukh Khan the actor we lost to SRK the superstar. Fan is an ode to the initial acting talent of SRK we saw in Baazigar, Darr and Anjaam.
Fan begins with introducing us to the beloved Gaurav Chandana, the West Delhi residence who is in love with Aryan (SRK Playing himself) since childhood. With the twist in tale that Gaurav looks similar to Aryan, For Gaurav Aryan is everything. He takes a special journey to meet with his beloved superstar only to find that he is not the only one in the list. Things get interesting when Gaurav feels betrayed and determined to teach a lesson to his God. The movie introduces some interesting aspects in terms of what it means to be a superstar and what it means to be a Fan. Gaurav is kind of an Anti-hero who is made to be loved, scared, loathed and disgusted by the director in various parts of the movie. Credit goes to SRK for his portrayal of Gaurav. He gets the mannerisms, body language, dialogues right. The initial scenes of Gaurav feels kind of over played but by the end of the movie, SRK gets Gaurav right. In fact in one of the subtle scenes in the movie, SRK acts a bit like Gaurav while speaking to a Police inspector. If it was intentional than well done SRK. Kudos goes to the director for keeping the movie songs free. He deserves 0.5 star extra for that. The movie is a thriller but seems kind of stretched over a period 140 minutes. The ending is melodramatic which puts me off but the director desperately tries to make us love Gaurav even though he is kind of annoying. Overall the effort is decent and SRK deserves some credit for Gaurav. He is certainly in contention for the 2016 filmfare but to be honest who cares. Please Watch Fan for if you want to remember when SRK used to act and not just play himself every time. It deserves 7.5 star from my side. If only the movie was edited a lot better and SRK showed some restrain with Gaurav it could have been his memorable performance. Alas it is not a Chak De or Pardes but it is SRK telling everyone he is still the king of acting

Fan is all about SRK, His acting skills we have been talking for so long and we grown watching him, Fan is one of the fantastic display of Shahrukh's on Screen Acting Talent, He surely deserve Best actor nominations and trophy, There are some flaws in the movie but still it keep moving you on.
.This was the first bollywood movie which got shot in Madam Tussads Museum, There are lot good things to talk about, the chase between SRK and his Fan Gaurav is also impressive, You will not feel bored at any point of time.. So please go ahead and watch the movie I am sure you will have a good thing to watch..

.....this is the bollywood top movie ever.....FAN is Shah Rukh Khan's best performance till date. His Aryan Khanna is Excellent but his Gaurav Chandana is better. This is the SRK I grew up watching. He can't really top this one. Kudos to the VFX and the prosthetic team for the make up. Maneesh Sharma's direction was brilliant. The story is different. The dialogues are very very good. Habib Faisal has done a good job with the dialogues. The costumes are dope for Gaurav . The editing is crisp and the screenplay is Fantastic. The movie has no songs(That was a bummer) The cinematography was exceptional, great locations. Since, the movie is completely focused on Aryan and Gaurav, the supporting cast don't have much to do. It's good seeing a movies like this is being made. Something different.

FAN is Shah Rukh Khan's best performance till date. His Aryan Khanna is Excellent but his Gaurav Chandana is better. This is the SRK I grew up watching. He can't really top this one.
Kudos to the VFX and the prosthetic team for the make up. Maneesh Sharma's direction was brilliant. The story is different. The dialogues are very very good. Habib Faisal has done a good job with the dialogues. The costumes are dope for Gaurav . The editing is crisp and the screenplay is Fantastic. The movie has no songs(That was a bummer) The cinematography was exceptional, great locations. Since, the movie is completely focused on Aryan and Gaurav, the supporting cast don't have much to do. It's good seeing a movies like this is being made. Something different.
It won't be a great success at the Box Office as it's a dark movie.
The flaw what I found was the Special Effects in the first Chase Sequence- You'll notice it.

I have read many reviews stating that the first half is good but second half isn't. Sadly, it comes from the entertainment junkies- a section of audience whom FAN is not even meant to entertain.
FAN is a different film, intense and serious. The light-hearted moments in the first half can be counted as a bonus. The real fun of the movie begins in second half as the movie gives what it had promised to deliver- intense drama about a star chasing his own fan and fan busy taking his revenge. Fan is Shah Rukh Khan's triumph. The movie will be remembered as the one which brought us back the King Khan we all had been waiting for; not the one we saw in movies like 'Happy New Year' or 'Dilwale'. Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, who is terrific as both the fan Gaurav and the superstar Aryan, Shriya Pilgaonkar wins hearts in the limited scenes given to her.

Serendipity made me watch this movie without going through any previews and ratings and I'm glad because this one is a marvel, something that both Bollywood and Shah Rukh Khan needed badly.
The plot is well polished, the screenplay is transfixing and the background score is something that bollywood should look up to, but the real reason that inclines me to rate this movie up so high is the one actor I was crazy about growing up, the one who faded away with some lackluster work over the past few years, the one who strikes back with this cornucopia of excellence in acting, expressions, dialog, stunts and all that magic that makes ShahRukh Khan stand out among all the other actors. He is indeed back to being the King with this one. The supporting cast is well chosen but this movie is an all out SRK affair and you will love it for this reason.
The director has smartly made some puns with non-Hindi understanding Bollywood actors and "Bhai" (or rather his Wax statue) staring helplessly as SRK makes chaos at Madame Tussaddes.There might be a couple more missed out among this balanced thriller-emotional drama but one thing for sure is that you won't regret going to the cinemas for FAN, and if you are not already a fan of SRK, Fan would make you one.
