When was the last time you felt that a character deserved a film, and not any better one? When was the last time you cried watching a film? I, for one, remember myself sobbing in wonder, watching Margarita with a Straw. Directed by the gifted filmmaker Shonali Bose, who directed Chittagong and the highly censored Amu earlier, this is a heartwarming film which celebrated the cerebral palsy and the lead, who is affected by this, Laila. Kalki Koechlin is terrific as Laila, easily pulling off one of the best performances this year. The storytelling is animated and restrained, shifting gazes and ultimate observations.
I suggest you watch 'Margarita with a Straw', because not only does it celebrate its protagonist, it writes her as a progressive female in these times of rapid regression. It is the film we need, I am going with 4 stars.Like0September 20, 19 -

Modern tragedy. Good, Kalki made it more vivid and clear. Her acting is outstanding. Good to watch movie. Faminine world of abnormal women are captured with their desire to walk with the people in general- is the issue of the film. Good one.
