Saaransh is a 1984 Bollywood film starring Anupam Kher, Rohini Hattangadi, Madan Jain, Nilu Phule, Suhas Bhalekar and Soni Razdan. The film marked the screen debut of Anupam Kher. It was nominated for India's official entry for the 1985 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It is a story of an old Maharashtrian couple living in Shivaji Park, Mumbai, coming to terms with the death of their only son who is killed in a mugging incident in New York. Devastated to learn that their child has been killed, former headmaster B.V. Pradhan and his wife, Parvati, grieve.

'Saaransh' Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, is one of the best movies of him. Its a movie that tells us about what will happen when you lost the part of yourself , how it affects you and you need some motive to survive. One of the meaningful plots come from Bollywood. Anupam kher's acting debut won him win a National Award. His acting marks a strong debut and Rohini Hattangadi was good too. Meaningful songs are there too.
