Mohar Basu's Film Reviews
-
Kajarya is a lethal film that has its heart in the right place. It is both engrossing and abhorrent, addressing the issue of female infanticide with an astute understanding of the subject. Director Madhureeta Anand’s story is backed by solid research and her empathetic stance allows her to dive headlong into the issue to provide a more holistic view.

Angry Indian Goddesses is a decent watch if you keep you expectations in check. It is a perfect example of how anger does very little good afterall.
-
From the first frame, you’ll instantly lose your heart to the vividly animated, bright milieu here. Arlo’s world is moulded with rich colours and the film’s animation is one of the best in recent times. Some shots of the forest, the snow-capped mountains and the river are beautifully done. But, in terms of story, The Good Dinosaur suffers a beating. It is far from novel and the writing is lazy.

Yeh Ishq Sarfira is a ham fest that will dumb you down with its foolishness. Save yourself from becoming sarfira!
-
Avoid, X : Past is Present. It will fail to suit your filmi palettes and make you stay away from biryani for life with a very grotesque reference. You can do without such negativity.
-
…is sillier than it claims to be. Avoid it and spare yourself the challenge of surviving this vile affair.
-
The film, with the well-mounted CG villains – the werewolf, the abominable snowman, body squeezers – and its hair-raising playfulness, is a pleasure ride.
-
Pan has an unnecessary and incoherent story, with garish visual design and deafening background score. It seeks to salvage its odds by Miller’s charm. He is a strikingly beautiful child with bewitching blue eyes which can easily enamour viewers.
-
Director Wes Ball imbues the right level of energy with inspired, high-octane action pieces keeping you glued. It might falter on many grounds but nonetheless, delivers solid entertainment for its entire runtime.
-
Fashioned as a garish potboiler, the film has people romancing over local madira and flaunting posh aviators in tacky clothes over laughable loud songs. This time around, there is so much more to guffaw over besides his curly body hair.
