Mohit Suri, who knows how to whip up drama and create moments, is woefully off his game here. “Half Girlfriend” is a misfire of epic proportions. Blame it on the book, or the script that it spawned, but this movie is excruciating to endure. It’s the cinematic equivalent of an ulcer.

There are moments and sequences in the film that are moving and funny and quietly heartbreaking. But those are few in an overlong film that never quite finds its groove. I’m going with two out of five for Meri Pyaari Bindu. It’s an opportunity lost.

Sarkar 3 is an improvement on many of Varma’s recent films, which, quite frankly, were unwatchable to say the least. Yet it’s steeped in familiarity and an overwhelming sense of repetition and pointlessness. Did we really need another Sarkar film? Sadly, the answer is no.

Although handsomely mounted and evocatively shot, Noor lacks a sense of genuine urgency. The protagonist’s journey from flaky to fully reformed is never convincing, and in the end you’re left feeling that she could learn some empathy in addition to responsible reporting.

This film gets tiring very quickly. Sadly, it feels as pointless as a demonetized 500-rupee note.

The only time I had a good laugh was watching his expressions fly as he sportingly shook a leg in the film’s big Bollywood-style dance number. Kung Fu Yoga is a disappointment for Jackie Chan fans. The actor deserves better, and so do we. I’m going with one-and-a-half out of five.

…It’s a bit like flat soda. Palatable, but lacking any fizz.

What the film lacks is genuine feeling. Yes, even the frothiest of rom-coms need something real to keep you invested in its characters. Aditya Chopra may have made one of Hindi cinema’s most enduring love stories, but this is a soufflé that sinks like a stone.

…admirable thing about the film is its attempt to root out the stigma attached to mental health and the shame associated with therapy.
But these are small gifts in an overlong, disappointing film that misses its mark. Honestly, it’s a slog.

Force 2 isn’t unwatchable, and it won’t give you a migraine either. But it is a wildly inconsistent film that fills up the gaps between its many action sequences with ridiculous attempts at humor and drama. Hopefully this franchise ends here.
