Baby offers a mixed bag, by and large it remains predictable for most parts but the redeeming factor is the finale that is reminiscent of Argo, but keeps you engrossed all the same. That may not be the only film that Baby reminds you of, there is also a bit of Nikhil Advani’s D-Day in the storyline.

There is no doubt that Shankar has got flair and his own style but it is the repetitiveness that gets to you. There are scenes that go on and on till the cows and buffaloes come home and what can be said in five minutes takes more than twice the amount of time.

A remake of the Thai film of the same name, Alone directed by Bhushan Patel stars Bipasha Basu in a double role as conjoined twins. Excruciatingly painful and frustrating this horror film scares you with boredom rather than fright. Pity you can’t even take a peaceful nap while watching it because someone or the other keeps screaming ever so often minutes.

Liam Neeson is eminently likable in whatever he does and being a top actor that he is, he even pulls off an action film like this. But otherwise Taken 3 has very little going in its favor. In a way am glad that “It ends here”

Just about everything about Tevar is outdated and above everything else, it is the story. A good guy saving the heroine who is on the run from goons is so passé making you wonder why on earth this film was made in the first place. It is a big budget production and considerable money has been blown on lavish décor. In fact the electricity used to light up the sets itself could easily finance a couple of Indie films.

Angel of Death has the occasional spark but for many parts it is just dull. At no point is enough interested evoked in the characters, including the ghost. Luckily, the director has restrained himself from overdoing the standard tropes seen in horror films. Relative newcomer Phoebe Fox as the leading lady has put up a good show but otherwise this ghost business is average fare.

The audiences may or may not but Rajnikanth surely deserves better. But meanwhile, if you are his fan, Lingaa is a wet dream.

People slap each other for no particular reason and women are punched in the face and if there was a race for pregnant women to run in high heels, Yami Gautam would win it hands down. Prabhudheva ji also tries to be a Tarantino and Roberto Rodriguez in the action scenes and needless to say, he fails.

Initially the film opens on a decent note but very quickly goes downhill and never recovers. The plot has neither any logic nor sense or conviction. Even though Govinda tries his vintage act, the character of Bhaiyyaji is the weakest of them all. Not that the others are any better.

Director Abhishek Sharma gave is the entertaining Tere Bin Laden, but sadly The Shaukeens is nowhere close to it. Inspired by Basu Chatterjee’s Shaukeen (1982) this film loses steam very quickly. The rehashed plot where Akshay Kumar plays himself is funny in parts but eventually ends up going nowhere.
