Thalavara tugs at the heartstrings in unexpected little ways, gives hope, and, by the end of the film, leaves you a little teary-eyed. Director Akhil Anilkumar's portrayal is sensitive and nuanced. But otherwise, Thalavara is a sweet film like the family dramas of the past, where the good guy eventually wins.

On the whole, Rekhachithram is a unique, cleverly made film that has a lot going for it. Jofin T Chacko's film stirs nostalgia like no other in recent times. It is a cinephile's love note to Malayalam cinema, with intelligent writing where the past and the future organically weave in and out of the narrative.

Marco reminds one of the Transporter series, the butchering and the bloodbath brings to mind Dexter with a dash of Animal minus the misogyny. The writing, what is there of it, flounders after the first half and then it is mayhem. Marco demands that you approach it like pure fiction and if one were to go looking for reason, then disappointment awaits.
