Sweta Kaushal's Film Reviews
-
This is a brilliant critique of Indian judiciary…There are no villains, or at least there is no vicious intention in a single character of Court. Yet, everyone, including the judge, lawyers and cops, end up being responsible for an innocent and ageing man’s suffering. And that, sadly is the harsh reality of today’s society.

Even Naseeruddin, Annu can’t save this repetitive, preachy monologue on moral qualms…

However, for all its good intentions and cinematic beauty, Hunterrr fails to become the milestone for its genre. The film is stretched, especially in the second half. Harshvardhan Kulkarni defies the chronological way of story-telling, and the tool that could have added intrigue to the narrative, actually brings confusion. There is a clear attempt to validate Mandar’s actions relating them to incidents in his earlier life, but most of the times, the connection is not clear to the audience.
-
The film has a sense of warmth that ensures the audience would not want to ditch it half-way. However, the pace is a little slow – something associated with the movies that premiere at festivals before hitting theatres.

If you belong to post-90s generation, you may still find Dum Laga Ke Haisha worth a dekko if warm and light-hearted fun is what you are looking for.
-
Badlapur is likely to disappoint Sriram Raghavan fans. The brilliant performances and gripping narrative, nonetheless, will keep you hooked. Watch it for Nawazuddin and Varun Dhawan, if nothing else. Certainly worth your time and money.
-
Its story is an absolute drag, and eventually ends up losing the plot much before the film ends. In fact the last twenty minutes or so in the movie are far better than the rest of the 147-minutes long film. It brings perspective to both the love story and the story of the thief. If only, Vikramjit had made the whole film in the same spirit as well.

Go for it, for the entertaining performances. Despite the shoddy script and loose strings, this is worth a watch.
-
Watch the movie, for it is rare to sit through a supernatural thriller laughing all the way! No, on a more serious note, just skip it. You can drool over Bipasha or Karan Singh in the comfort of your home later.
-
Watch the movie for brilliance and for its simple, touching and mind-blowing messaage. Watch it for Ronit Roy, Rahul Bhatt and Vineet Kumar Singh. Do not watch the film if you do not like being subjected to the dark and intense feelings of guilt, realisation and loss. Skip the movie if blood and shootouts is all you want to see in an Anurag Kashyap venture.
