Does ‘Heroine’ work? Yes, but only because of Kareena Kapoor. From doing the raunchy act in ‘Halkat Jawaani’ to the scenes where she is battling depression and popping pills, to the I-don’t-care-attitude of a confident actress, Kareena makes Mahi memorable and lovable.

With a kind of brisk business-like immediacy and the least amount of fuss, “Maximum” takes us into the world of shoot-out killings and the internecine war in Mumbai`s police department which threatens to destroy the very institution built to mend the wounds and fissures in the social fabric.

‘Yeh Khula Aasmaan’ is an old-fashioned simple and transparent tale told with a straightforwardness that challenges current filmmaking trends of irrelevant complexities.Yeh Khula Aasmaan’ is a well-intended heartwarming film. More mellow than melodrama, it revels in postures of pristine idyllism associated with non-metropolitan life. There are no heart-stopping moments of high and low. This Sajid Khan film is certainly not for people who feel cinema needs to be driven by quality content and logic. Then, we are sorry to keep away from this film. But if you are someone who likes to chortle even for no reason or someone who believes in keeping the brains off while entering a cinema hall, then ‘Housefull 2’ is the right thing for you. Though the film has certain glitches, one can easily overlook them, for the film certainly promises a great deal of laughter that will leave you pleading for a break.

One doesn’t expect much from a first time director venturing into big bad world of Bollywood with a typical romantic comedy. The plot appears to be lifted from a Hollywood flick, it targets the youth and it releases close to Valentine’s Day. How different can the rom-com be, one wonders. But director Shakun Batra springs a surprise with this movie.

Bollywood has seldom come with a film based on the trials and tribulations of the common man. Given the fact that cinema is the reflection of society, the anti-corruption wave led by Gandhian Anna Hazare made some filmmakers realize their greater role in society, who have decided to come out with films that both entertain and send across a strong message to society. Director Rumy Jafry is one such filmmaker whose film deals with the dilemma of the common man. Starring Akshaye Khanna, Shriya Saran, Mugdha Godse, Satish Kaushik and Annu Kapoor, ‘Gali Gali Chor Hai’ is a light-hearted yet realistic take on everyman.
