Critic consensus

What 7 critics are saying

Critics are largely dismissive of Acharya, calling it Koratala Siva's weakest directorial effort to date. The film's visuals and isolated scenes earn passing mention, but reviewers broadly agree that the story is outdated, the screenplay lacks fresh elements, and the narration is tedious. Most striking to critics is the failure to capitalize on the pairing of Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan, whose scenes together generate little energy despite enormous expectations. The result, in the consensus view, is a dull, overlong film that never builds momentum.

  1. India Today

    Film review ·

It is safe to say that Acharya is Koratala Siva's weakest work till date. The story of Acharya is as old as the hills and the screenplay deserves fresh elements. The film lacked high points, which could have made the proceedings interesting.
  2. Times Of India

    Film review

Acharya lacks the soul it needed to pull off a tale that banks too much on people connecting to the concept of dharma. The film is a bag of contradictions that give you whiplash after a while, and while it has moments to remember, it doesn't work as intended.
  3. The Hans India

    Film review

On a final note, 'Acharya' movie is an outdated story and is further ruined by an unimpressive narration from Koratala Siva. Excepts some scenes and songs, rest of the film punishes audience.
  4. News18

    Film review ·

This mega emotional and action entertainer is impressive in terms of visuals, but not in line with the level of the film in terms of narrative. Also the stretched scenes, boring treatment, and the main sequences that are not as interesting stand out as minus points.
  5. Indian Express

    Film review ·

The writing is so poor that even the two actors' massive stardom feels inadequate to lift this movie. It's a snooze fest.
  6. The News Minute

    Film review ·

It is puzzling how director Koratala Siva managed to achieve this casting coup with such a tedious storyline. The scenes with Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan should have set the screen on fire, but they barely spark. By the time the film crawls to the final sequence, you are at the end of your tether.
  7. The Hindu

    Film review ·

Despite the presence of Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan and a whole lot of masala elements thrown in, it ends up as a dull film that never takes off. But then, all this never ever feels enough... how long can we soak in the milieu when the story fails to hold interest?
