Please. 1981 Chashme Buddoor was a film of that era. 1913 Chashme Baddoor is a film of this age. There is no comparison or matching. Although story remains the same, the treatment is today's. That was Sai Paranjpe's. This is David Dhawan's. Both've done a marvellous job and I thoroughly enjoyed it and was laughing uncontrollably. That means Paisa Vasool. Can that be said of any movie released so far this year? And there is no time to think, the movie moves so fast. And when it ends, you wish there was more.

Major Suryakant (Anupam Kher) has a chulbuli daughter Seema (Taapsee Pannu), who has a suitor Pratap (Ayaz Khan). But before any concrete step can be taken, she escapes on her scooty to Goa to her professor uncle Suryakant (Kher in double role) and grandma (Bharti Achrekar). Granny is proficient in using her hands for tamacha, belting and brooming manchala boys. Their house is same (or similar) to Mujhse Shaadi Karogi house of Priyanka Chopra with Akshay/Salman in Kader Khan's house right opposite. Here, the opposite house of Josephine (Lilette Dubey) is occupied by three kadka - Sid (Ali Zafar), Jai (Siddharth Suryanarayan) and Omi (Divyendu Sharma). While Sid is research student in Physics, Jai and Omi research women and get beaten researching them. Jai is a 'passionate' actor while Omi is a shayar, who are always at the receiving end of beatings. They haven't paid the rent for over a year and the same for food, which they get from Nostalgia Cafe owned by Joseph (Rishi Kapoor, a tattooed biker). Omi tries his luck with Seema but tastes granny's hands and her dog's teeth. Jai too faces similar fate. But the underdog Sid strikes an instant rapport with Seema and both become an Amol Palekar-Zarina Wahab type couple. But the wily duo Jai-Omi cannot see the happy couples (Ali-Taapsee and Rishi-Lilette) together and devise ways to separate them. They do but not for long. Friendship wins and they prove to be sachcha dost. In the end, all's well that ends well.

The movie is a situational comedy and totally belongs to Ali, Shubhendu, Siddharth, Taapsee and Ayaz. The way these youngsters go about their parts, they lend a charm and humour, which is to be seen to be enjoyed. David Dhawan has proved, he didn't go anywhere but was waiting to make another movie. If not Govinda, Akshay, Salman, Karisma, Priyanka or Katrina; he can make a hit with unknown names too. And this Chashme Baddoor will soon prove it. He is THE Komedy King. Looking forward to more films from him. And the songs are simply whacky and wild. They complement the situations especially Andha Ghoda. Yes, har ek friend kamina hota hai par phir bhi Dum Hai Boss! It's a sparkling comedy, where you don't have to apply your head but heart.

32 years later, another CB will be made but it will not be the same as today's. So, today's will seem a classic then. So, enjoy today's movie as it is and forget comparing it. It is a damn good enjoyable fare that should NOT be missed. Get going.
