Lenin Pandiyan

Lenin Pandiyan remains a sincere and relevant drama with several effective stretches. Its treatment of police brutality and abuse of power gives it weight, while George Maryan, the Gangai Amaran-Roja track and Ilaiyaraaja's music provide some of its strongest moments. However, the later developments feel more designed than organic, and the climax stops short of making the impact that the setup promises.

As far as debut films go, Lenin Pandiyan is quite a commendable effort with strong writing. But the execution shows the lack of finesse that often marks first attempts, which prevents the film from turning out to be a stronger film. The climax should have delivered a punch in our guts like the ending of Mynaa or Visaaranai, but stops short of being hard-hitting.
