Uyir

Despite a few uneven stretches, Uyir deserves appreciation for its emotional sincerity and its attempt to tell a socially relevant story with sensitivity. It may not be a flawless investigative thriller, but it leaves behind a sense of sadness, satisfaction, and moral discomfort.

Despite its intriguing premise, Uyir never quite cracks the mystery, relying instead on emotional drama to deliver its final blow. Predictable twists, excessive flashbacks and uneven writing prevent the murder mystery from reaching its full potential. The good work is derailed by three extensive flashbacks that completely demystify the suspense and reduce everything to a generic, run-of-the-mill thriller.

Director M Padmakumar's Roshan Mathew-Shruthy Menon starrer is a loosely written, spiritless affair that completely misses its emotional core.

The film fails on many counts. Arundhati's sudden crush on Sundar is not convincing enough. The reason given by Arundhati for her husband's suicide sounds illogical. In all, a lifeless film.

'Uyir' can be described as a good film that conveys what it wants to say in a very realistic and clean way, without excessive cinematic suspense or big fuss.
