SCI can also impact sexuality when it leads to depression and an altered self-image. Even so, many people with SCI have satisfying sex lives, often including sexual arousal and orgasm. They can focus on different areas of the body and types of sexual acts, and often find newly sensitive erotic areas of the skin in erogenous zones or near borders between areas of preserved and lost sensation.
