Aparna Mudi's Film Reviews

If you are tired of the nonsensical action, and over-the-top drama, `Mardaani` is the film for you. The movie has the power to invoke thought and subjects you to question the ultimately ineffective candle light vigils that need to now metamorphose to a more powerful resistance to lawless cruelty and nip crime at its bud.

The movie is exactly what it promises – a larger than life Salman Khan movie which the director knows will go down well with his massive fan following. The actor is at ease playing a quirky hero – comic, with a big heart, can beat baddies to pulp as easily as he can romance long legged lasses. If you are a Salman fan – go watch the movie. Don`t expect any ground-breaking revolutionary filmmaking. This is as entertaining as it gets.

The unveiling of the visceral saga has a lot of strong characters and Mohit has done a good job in adapting a foreign film and complimenting it with the drama that the Indian audience is used to. But he has gone a tad over in making a thriller. Maybe, filmmakers should step out of this trap more often and we wouldn`t be too far from making beacons of world cinema.

Watch the movie for a lack of any other show to go to with your loved one. Despite the attempts of a modern love story, this 2 and a half hour movie can get to your nerves if you are expecting anything different.

Parth as Akhrot makes the movie worthwhile, even with a sluggish second half. It would not be too wrong to say that the young lad acts with the prowess that overshadows Sr Bachchan`s performance at times. He has some of the best moments of the movie and the director has really picked a gem who we hope to see more often on the silver screen.

The story is etched out well, and it is perfect for the Women`s day theme. Watch the movie to break free from whatever holds you back, and of course Kangana Ranaut.
-
The entire look and feel of the movie is of 80s Bollywood. It`s like travelling back in time, where there were no metro-sexual heroes and the modern heroines. It is not a Valentine day date, but the men should make a day out to celebrate their friendship with this movie. The film has nothing new to offer, but one can watch it for nostalgia sake once!

Don`t go for the movie if you are expecting a candy-floss romance. This movie is quirky and breaks some stereotypes. Parineeti`s performance is adorable and definitely a great plus point for the movie. Even though it is just a one time watch, this definitely makes a great valentines date. Take your girlfriend or spouse out for this movie and cosy up with a tub of pop corn for a not-so-typical romance.

…manages to deliver a typically Bollywood revenge saga in a modern way. The suspense and the emotional quotient added to the speed and stunts make the movie as spectacular as it promises to be. Acharya brings to the audience an enthralling script and executes it equally well. The movie is sure to keep you hooked; go and watch it for Aamir!

Dhulia’s biggest mass entertainer venture yet, ‘Bullett Raja’ is not your usual gravity defying stunt filled motion picture that asks you to leave your brains behind. The twists and turns in the plot keep you rooted to the seats for the entire movie. They might be somewhat predictable but are not stretched and don’t underestimate the intelligence of the viewer.
