The Gunman
2015 · BookMyShow · Mar 2015
There are a few things in this world that are as painful as watching The Gunman. Getting your teeth and your fingernails pulled out simultaneously is what it really feels like. Avoid this movie like the plague. That said, there are a few good action sequences that are interesting. So if you don't mind a slow and dull plot and prefer a decent action flick, then this film might just be your cup of tea.

Run All Night
2015 · BookMyShow · Mar 2015
You'd be lying if you said that you are sick of watching Liam Neeson in another action movie. The actor has given freely to the genre, and it has definitely returned the favor. Neeson is at his absolute best in this film, and with Ed Harris in tow, he manages to hit all the right notes. Apart from slight distractions, Run All Night is a decent edge-of-the-seat entertainer and is worth your time and money.

Focus
2015 · BookMyShow · Mar 2015
Focus is definitely a bang for your buck. There is no doubt that you will enjoy the sneaky cons and the terrific camaraderie between the leads. The final act of the movie could have been tighter but take my word for it, you will want to watch it again.

The Lazarus Effect
2015 · BookMyShow · Mar 2015
The Lazarus Effect has a talented cast and an interesting plot. Unfortunately, it feels rushed and suffers from abrupt editing, with many of the plotlines never materializing. You are better off steering away from it. The movie's tag line reads – Evil will rise. My question is – When?

Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
2015 · BookMyShow · Jan 2015
Birdman is an impeccable film. It boasts earnest performances by its esteemed cast members and also has a tight storyline. Iñárritu knows what he wants to say and does exactly that. The underlying message of vanity and perils of fame also resound in the script, and stay with you even as the credits roll. It is perhaps the best film of 2014 and deserves to be watched.

American Sniper
2015 · BookMyShow · Jan 2015
Watch the film for an earnest performance by Bradley Cooper. The actor is in top form as Chris Kyle and offers a lot of depth. It has enough edge-of-the-seat moments, coupled with a stellar soundtrack and POV shots. But honestly, this film would have been better off as a documentary rather than a feature-length film where we are exposed to civilians being butchered and murder being glorified.

Paddington
2015 · BookMyShow · Jan 2015
There is no reason you shouldn't watch Paddington. If you are a skeptic, thinking that this is a children's film that won't appeal to you, then you are wrong. This movie packs so much soul that it deserves to be watched more than once. It is the perfect family entertainer that cannot be missed.

Take It Easy
2015 · BookMyShow · Jan 2015
Take it Easy stresses on an important message that will resonate with most of us. We have all dealt with parental pressure, competitive exams and disappointments at some point in our lives. The film may not be a complete one in all respects but deserves a watch for its earnestness.

Penguins of Madagascar
2014 · BookMyShow · Nov 2014
Penguins of Madagascar is extremely fun to watch. At 92 minutes, it is briskly paced, and lets you leave the cinema hall with a huge grin on your face. The film can be enjoyed by individuals of all ages. While it may not be the best animated feature film of the year, it is certainly one you should catch with the whole family.

The Maze Runner
2014 · BookMyShow · Nov 2014
The execution of the action sequences in The Maze Runner is the only redeeming quality of the movie. With Indiana Jones-style escapades and narrow saves, the director manages to absorb our attention nicely. Alas, they are far in between and short-lived. Just go with low expectations and you might not be disappointed.

The Equalizer
2014 · BookMyShow · Nov 2014
You really don't have to do much to make an action flick work. Give us a good guy to root for and a bad guy to despise, and we are happy. The Equalizer does exactly that. You will certainly enjoy the film with your friends. But be prepared to sit through an excruciatingly long second half.

Dumb and Dumber To
2014 · BookMyShow · Nov 2014
Watch this film only if you are a fan of Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, and would love to see them again in roles that made them famous. The comedy isn't fresh, but you will laugh at some parts. Don't go with high expectations and as is the trend with most comedies these days, 'leave your brains at home'. That should work.

Interstellar
2014 · BookMyShow · Nov 2014
Interstellar gives space travel a whole new dimension. But even with all the scientific jargon, the film bears a lot of soul. The love that connects a father and his daughter transcends time, and eventually, the space. This is a beautifully shot film from an ace director that succinctly captures what inter-galactic travel would feel like. Its only flaws, as pointed out, are weak acting and a lived-in storyline. But you will definitely leave the theatre with your mind blown and a desire to watch it once again. If you do, make sure you get the IMAX experience.

Nightcrawler
2014 · BookMyShow · Nov 2014
There aren't a lot of movies like Nightcrawler out there. The concept is fresh, the characters are well-etched and the pacing is rather perfect. The best thing about the movie is the fact that it can be watched time and again, and it will still manage to haunt you afterwards.

Ouija
2014 · BookMyShow · Oct 2014
Ouija uses a fresh concept, which hasn't been seen a lot in the horror film genre. Unless you count the much better 1986 film, Witchboard. It packs a few scares and has a notable twist that makes it mildly interesting. But beyond that, it just falls apart.

Beyond All Boundaries
2014 · BookMyShow · Oct 2014
It doesn't really matter if you are a cricket fan or not, as Jain's story connects with you at a human level. The documentary is aptly paced, and makes you care for its three protagonists. After premiering at film festivals all around the world, Beyond All Boundaries: Cricket has finally come to India. And this is where it rightfully belongs. Go watch it for the never-say-quit attitude that defines Indians, and to relive the euphoria that followed the World Cup 2011.

Haider
2014 · BookMyShow · Oct 2014
Haider is packed with memorable scenes and an underlying message, which stays with you long after you have left the cinema hall. The director treats the topic of political unrest in Kashmir nicely, and tries not to take sides. Yet the movie is not overtly sentimental and delves into the psyche of the characters and the effect the war has on them. This movie has a few minor pitfalls here and there, but otherwise it is a wonderful effort by Bhardwaj, and deserves to be watched.

Deliver Us from Evil
2014 · BookMyShow · Sep 2014
The story is good, the horror element is ever-present, and no matter who you are, it WILL make you jump in your seat every now and then. It doesn't matter if you are a fan of modern-day blood and gore, or classic exorcism flicks, this movie has something for everyone.

Creature
2014 · BookMyShow · Sep 2014
Despite its logical flaws, Creature (3D) is a fun watch. Then again, no one goes to watch a monster movie looking for logic. This film is an edge-of-the-seat entertainer and offers enough thrills to make sure you shudder with fright.

Life of Crime
2014 · BookMyShow · Sep 2014
Life of Crime is just several well-executed scenes put together, but to no effect. At times, you feel bad for the great acting talent squandered, and you wish to see something more than what is on display. It does pack a special surprise in the end, which alone makes it a one-time watch. Adapted from Elmore Leonard's novel, The Switch, the film may impress the fans of the author but will leave the others (i.e. everyone!) disappointed.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
2014 · BookMyShow · Aug 2014
If you are someone who grew up watching the reptilian brothers in cartoons, movies or otherwise, then you are sure to enjoy this film. Agreed, there is not much originality to the plot and at times, the film feels rushed, but the turtles ground this movie and give it more soul. Despite clichéd scenes and below-par acting by a few of the characters, this movie deserves a watch. If only the makers had put a little more effort in the story, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would have been the perfect blockbuster.
