Sweet Film With Pseudo End That Ruins Impact…
-
Watch this film at least once for its honesty and the hard work that has gone into it. For me, despite the flaws, it was a much more enriching experience than “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag,” which is the biggest hit so far among the biopics.

Emraan Hashmi is Superb in This Well-made Entertainer…

This is Leone’s most classy film to date. And she deserves to do more of such movies.

Go for this unabashed masala confection — it offers a tangy dish of masala manoranjan for which we have been craving for a long time. There are no surprises at the macro level, but a good vibe and an imaginative presentation of the old wine to keep us riveted.

One thing’s for sure: Without Khan’s performance, this film would not be even a whit appealing. Without his sheer star presence as Aryan and Gaurav, the film would not be watchable at all. But WITH him, and as the film stands, we will have to watch and see if his real-life fans can take this garbled narrative of a film towards “hit-hood.”

What is magnificent is the way a wondrous and real-looking jungle world is crafted with care through frame computer animation, performance capture and a bit of motion capture by Moving Picture Company and Weta Digital. The violence combined with the dreary look is intended to be very ‘international’ (sic), but actually both the brutality and look are overdone. We lost count of the stabs and slicing of heads, throats and abdomens), but, mercifully, there are no profanities either, controversial or otherwise.
