• In spite of being presented in an unhurried, episodic manner, you will not find this over two-hour long docu-style indie film sluggish, for it showcases the minutiae of everyday life beautifully. No wonder Linklater said, “You’ve never seen a movie exactly like this, and you may not again. It is a life project.”

  • Nightcrawler is tense and appalling, yet strangely funny, intriguing and engaging at the same time. Watch it.

  • Beautiful visuals are another asset. A scene shot in a lake where the actress is shown to be rotating and floating in water is liberating – a metaphor for letting go of fixed notions and following your heart. The film has a lot of hidden messages like these, which unfortunately get overshadowed by an overdose of mush and superficial love scenes that get massive footage.

  • In times where materialistic things have taken precedence over people and good old values, ETKS is one of the most socially relevant films to have come out this year. It’s not just a film but a philosophy.

  • Ultimately, the plot provokes you to think if ‘being safe to suffer’ is better than ‘risking your life to look beyond the obvious’. It also convinces you to move out of your comfort zone and face your fear. The climax might seem underwhelming for some but the build-up is a sure-shot winner. Deserves a sequel…

  • Sensitively directed, realistically shot,* Katiyabaaz* will make you value the most basic thing your city provides you with, that you often take for granted – *bijli.*

  • Lucy may fail to woo the mainstream audience as it doesn’t boast an extravagant budget or thrilling special effects. You don’t feel for the protagonist either as she loses everything that makes her human, including pain and fear of death. However, if you are a fan of ‘experimental’ cinema, you will appreciate this unconventional attempt.

  • The faint-hearted can stay away for the film does get immensely eerie. The rest should watch it for it’s one of the most unpredictable thrillers you will see in a long time.

  • Emotionally intense, deeply absorbing and visually engaging, DOTPOTA is a solid build-up to another deserving sequel. If not anything, you must watch it for Caesar aka motion capture maestro Andy Serkis. He is the ‘Godfather’ here.

  • If you like feel-good, escapist films, this one’s not for you. The Fault in Our Stars is one of the most unpretentious tragic love stories told in a heart-warming manner. ‘Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened’ pretty much sums up the story.
