• Planes has its share of fun moments but is underwhelming, especially when compared to the kind of animation films that are being made today.

  • Most horror films claim to be ‘based on real life incidents’. While they rarely live up to the hype around them, The Conjuring is an exception. The atmosphere build-up begins even before the film does, as a disclaimer is flashed before the opening credits, warning you that you might seek psychological help after watching the movie. The strategy works, as the film can scare the living daylights out of you. While we didn’t feel the need to undergo any counselling, unsettling it certainly was.

  • Don’t go expecting a solid comedy and you won’t be disappointed.

  • The intent is good and we get the message, but shoddy execution fails to elicit a response or provoke sympathy for convicts who may want to change their lives for the better. A topic as significant and intense as this should have been handled better.

  • The film sends out a good message to youngsters like ‘family comes first’, ‘respect your elders’, etc. It has its share of sweet moments, but overall, as a rom-com, it fails to leave a mark.

  • Unlike most films made on youngsters, Sixteen is refreshingly real and extremely relevant in modern times. Thankfully, there are no standard teenage-film cliches like youngsters taking to drugs or other addictions, misbehaviour, rebellious attitude towards parents, etc.

  • Despicable Me 2 is heartwarmingly entertaining just like its prequel, if not better. More than anything else, the story has a heart. With the world getting cynical by the day, the film provides that much needed sense of goodness.

  • Bollywood’s fixation for formulaic cop films with south sensibility continues and if you don’t have an issue with it, you certainly won’t mind watching Policegiri.

  • If you find old-school masala action films entertaining, Enemmy may appeal to you.

  • The film has its moments. However, don’t go thinking you’ll have fun ‘solving’ the enigmatic case, as the events that follow might just be way too implausible and convenient for your liking.
