• “Fury” is technically brilliant, packed with military action and drama, but as a narrative, it is thematically stunted, riddled with cliches and oft-seen scenes.

  • “Haider” is a well made film complimented with dramatic performances, strong script and fine music. Don’t miss this one.

  • Overall, the film falls short on the directorial front and what adds to the disappointing fare is the bleeping of the cuss words in the dialogues owning to the censor board’s diktat.

  • Overall, despite blatant product placements, the technically brilliant visuals and matching performances make the film worth a watch.

  • What keeps you hooked is your patience or your fancy craze to see the once glorious A-list action stars perform. By and large, “The Expendables 3” may appeal only to front benchers who enjoy the adrenaline rush of mindless violence.

  • A concept film, based on Lois Lowry’s book of the same name, Philip Noyce’s “The Giver” reminds you of Neil Burger’s “Divergent” which was released last April. But unlike “Divergent”, this one is a simpler, one-dimensional story of revolt against the system.

  • Director Steven Quale seems to have not taken this subject seriously as the frivolous last scene mars the impact reminding you that there is no story, but what you are experiencing is just a fictional masterpiece.

The film definitely merits a viewing.

  • The only drawback is that while plot is sugary sweet and engaging, the narrative lacks drama.

  • The ‘Guardian’ characters are well-etched and their interpersonal relationships are also a highlight and are handled incredibly well throughout the film. The merging of the computer generated characters like Rocket and Groot with the human characters is seamless and so real. Unfortunately, the villains are a disappointment as they are not portrayed like megalomaniacs.

  • With the cuss words bleeped out by the censors in India, it’s a killjoy to watch the film as the overall viewing experience is marred. In spite of this, it is worth watching this no-brainer, on a wet lazy afternoon.
