Mr. Peabody & Sherman

2014 · Indian Express · Feb 2014

The film takes off on a promising premise, but eventually saddles on a disappointing plateau. But nevertheless, it is an uncomplicated film that would appeal to kids and adults alike. The film would strongly appeal to intelligent kids, their parents and dog lovers, who have a sense of humour.

Despite brilliant performances, panache and style, this "RoboCop" lacks the momentum of a racy action that today's audience are expecting.

Vampire Academy

'Vampire Academy' has its moments even though it has very little to offer in terms of wittiness, craftiness, shrewdness or novelty that one would expect in a vampire film. But it is sure to satisfy only the fans of the original source material.

Overall though heart-wrenching, brutal and life-affirming, the film due to the glamourisation of the conflict exhibits a "Hollywood feel" to a realistic narration.

12 Years a Slave

Director McQueen has nothing new to offer that we aren`t aware of. But it is his unflinching portrayal of Solomon Northup with scenes of brutal realism, dramatic dialogue, cartoonish villains and a plot that highlights the torture which the slaves endured that sets it apart.

Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom

Laden with dramatically cliched and generic rousing scenes, director Justin Chadwick's "Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom", set against the backdrop of long-established institutional racism, is a far cry from an awe-inspiring and stimulating biopic.

Diana

Diana

2013 · IANS · Oct 2013

The script itself acts as a ruthless stalker, uneasy with its own probing. It does little to convey either the perfection or imperfection of its subject. Unfortunately, it does not reveal anything about the enigmatic Diana, but manages instead to portray her as a tepidly manipulative and scheming woman, who fed the media with photographs taken with Dodi Fayed.

We're the Millers

The script of 'We're The Millers' is neither outlandishly ridiculous nor is it continuously funny enough to be a classic. It is a completely tongue-in-cheek product. Nevertheless it is a good adult comedy that you will not want to forget for some time.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

2013 · DNA · Aug 2013

Director Harald Zwart, who earlier presented Karate Kid, struggles to deliver this rather overtly complicated story effectively. There's so much bouncing around in tone and story that the film flounders with its cheesiness. There are features worth revealing in the film, and thankfully, it is less self-serious than the Twilight films. Nevertheless, the young and the exuberant will find The Mortal Instruments - City Of Bones worth a watch.
