Troy Ribeiro's Film Reviews
-
Overall, with a generic villain and robot henchmen and world domination goals, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 is a children-centric film that lacks the punch.
-
The script itself acts as a ruthless stalker, uneasy with its own probing. It does little to convey either the perfection or imperfection of its subject. Unfortunately, it does not reveal anything about the enigmatic Diana, but manages instead to portray her as a tepidly manipulative and scheming woman, who fed the media with photographs taken with Dodi Fayed.
-
Director Harald Zwart, who earlier presented Karate Kid, struggles to deliver this rather overtly complicated story effectively. There’s so much bouncing around in tone and story that the film flounders with its cheesiness. There are features worth revealing in the film, and thankfully, it is less self-serious than the Twilight films.
Nevertheless, the young and the exuberant will find The Mortal Instruments – City Of Bones worth a watch.
-
The script manages to create a very entertaining ride with the 3D element.
-
Where are these cars speeding to? Where are they in relation to each other? What`s their goal during the chase, apart from just creating some din? The climax has a major twist that works in making the next sequel and don`t miss the trailer of ‘Fast & Furious 7’ after the end credits.
-
This film is an amalgamation of South African spirit and Hollywood subtlety. Targeted at kids between 5 to 10 years of age, parents too would find the film fascinating.
The film is refreshingly delightful.
