Akhanda 2: Thaandavam

Akhanda 2 has high-octane action sequences but falters from underwhelming writing and patriotic fervor. Fundamentally, this film suffers from underwhelming writing. The film treats logic like how China treats its dissenters.

The sequel of Akhanda has some amusing, self-aware moments in the first half, before it grows too verbose and chaotic for its own good. While this sets up a fascinating battle at first glance, the film soon gets carried away and resists creating a compelling narrative worth the pitch. What it direly needed was a more purposeful script that didn't want to so heavily rely on its boisterous voice and its equally boisterous leading man.

It is tough to sit through many of the action set pieces as they are built up with excessively slow motion shots. It's a disastrous tonal highwire act and a misfire that only a director as least self-aware like Boyapati Sreenu can pull off.
