This film has perhaps the most well-cast video-game movie ever. Unfortunately, the script, performances or dialogues cannot keep pace.

Hollywood's current obsession with franchise-building might act as a consolation for fans of the game series who might take a leap of faith in a better constructed sequel. Meanwhile, 'Assassin’s Creed' becomes another exercise in squandering the considerable talents of its cast and crew.

For the video game fans, this may be just what the doctor ordered, but for cinema lovers, it's just another convert (like 'Mortal Kombat', 'Dungeons And Dragons' and whole lot of other illegitimate spawns) that doesn't quite work!

With Warcraft and Assassin’s Creed both performing a belly flop Hollywood has blown its chances of turning video game movies into a mainstream genre. Suddenly the prospects for Alicia Vikander’s Lara Croft movie don’t look too good.

Watch it for the action sequences midway through the movie that are executed to perfection. That is when you really immerse yourself in the flow of the movie. As for the acting, it’s top notch. Michael Fassbender fans, you do not need a reason to watch this. Go for it this weekend.

Even though it's nice that they attempted to try and break the curse of video game movies, it still doesn't take away the fact that this is far from the best movie of 2016.While the gaming franchise has been ridiculously successful, the question here is: do those who spend their days tethered to their controllers and mouses really need a movie to gain the experience?Nope.
