Plot and character are not the point here. The flimsy story about a cop engaging a motorbike dealer to catch a thief who runs a motorcycle gang is the least crafted element. But there are lots of trendy split screen shots of shiny bikes burning rubber and fast paced stunts involving boats and trucks. Not to mention sexy songs with water hoses.

Dhoom is an action thriller with an overdose of bike chases and speed-thrills. Uday Chopra chips in some light moments in this otherwise gritty fare with his ‘tongue-in-cheek’ humor. Abhishek Bachchan needs to master a few emotive expressions other than his usual brooding. John Abraham looks dashing and fits the role of a bike-riding thief to T.

John Abraham as a baddie still needs to work on his oratory skills. Though Abhishek makes a convincing cop but it is Uday Chopra, who steals the show from his partner by playing to the gallery.

DHOOM has style, but no substance. DHOOM has gloss, but no script. DHOOM has thrills in abundance, but the outcome is least exciting. In short, DHOOM ranks amongst Yashraj’s weakest films.

Though Uday Chopra steals the show — at least as far as I am concerned — I have to say Abhishek Bachchan is impressive as the cool and confident cop. John Abraham stalks though his role with ease. Esha Deol and Rimii Sen only need to look beautiful in their limited presence in this sweat ‘n’ leather flick. Dhoom does have a few loopholes but the film’s fast-paced energy is more than enough to ensure your eyes don’t stir from the screen for two-and-a-half hours.
