The writing and direction both are uninspired and while some of Chan’s action is fun to watch, there is a lot of clunky dialogue as well that could put you to sleep. John Cusack and Adrien Brody are both miscast although the latter tries hard to appear wicked.

Dragon Blade is a disappointment for Jackie Chan fans; you are better off watching a re-run of his older films.

  • It’s kind of fascinating to watch really, because you get to witness the birth of a new kind of cinema, the Chinese War Epic that will eventually catch up with Hollywood’s superhero films in the near future.

Blurring the lines between fiction and history, this film sends out a message of peace and equality in resonant forces. The battle scenes are a visual treat with commendable camera work. It somehow remains with you even after leaving the cinema hall, despite its inconsistencies.
