For an effective film, you need both plot and treatment. Family of Thakurganj has neither, and a solid ensemble cast is let down, once again, by inept handling.

The film seems like a grim gangland saga that inadvertently becomes funny, and an attempted spoof of a gangland saga that is far from funny.

With a decent concept at hand, had the director focused on keeping the story tight, it could have engaged the viewers. The film’s length is problematic, even the humour and the one-liners don’t help in keeping the film afloat.

One doesn't hold it against him too much though. His fate is akin to that of the viewer's, who too will struggle to make sense of this film which meanders in twenty different directions, much like a kite stranded in the wind...
