Gadar 2 offers nothing new. What we can confirm is that Sunny paaji can still snarl effectively, and that dhai-kilo-ka-haath has residual potency.

GADAR 2 works due to strong franchise value, right release period and a patriotic narrative.

'Gadar 2' is an entertaining Bollywood film that captures the nostalgia of the original. Sunny Deol gives a standout performance and defies his age with his energy and presence. The film successfully delivers a full-on Bollywood masala entertainer that supersedes expectations and tugs at your heartstrings.

This is a blatant misuse of fans' emotions taking it for granted to deliver such a horrendous product hoping it'll work only based on nostalgic factors. With the kind of efforts put in by the filmmaker & the team, this should've been released in the next week of its prequel in 2001 & even then many would've asked the same question: 'Why?'

Gadar 2, a sequel to Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001), is a classic case of old wine in old bottle and offers very little freshness in terms of its character arcs, settings and the premise. Yet, it qualifies to be a one-time watch for its ability to give an adrenaline rush with its action sequences. Gadar 2 does falter in terms of story and its pace, though it brings back the mass entertainment and that can surely make it a paisa vasool watch.

The bad part is it is not as poignant as the original. Having said that, few could match Sunny in depicting the intensity of a wounded soul. Wish Sharma had given him situations with more heft and humour to work with.
