• Despite an interesting premise, the film doesn’t work because its characters inspire no affection. I’m going with one-and-a-half out of five for director Ashwini Chaudhary’s ‘Jodi Breakers’. Feast your eyes on the stunning Greece locales; it’s the only pleasure this film provides.

  • It won’t be a happily after ever at the box office because Jodi Breakers, a film that had a lot of potential, is seriously flawed. There could have been comedy, there could have been romance, there could have been moments that make you go Awwww!

  • It’s neither a love story, nor a sex comedy. There are plenty of innuendoes and women in bikinis frolicking in foam as newly-divorced R Madhavan (“Sid”) celebrates being single. Song and dance is his chosen way. The women (those one lathered in foam and by the pool) find him irresistible. Perhaps because he even changes the colour of his spectacle frames thrice in the same song (begins with black, goes to blue and red and ends with black). Reality hits though because his evil ex-wife has taken him to the cleaners and he now has to earn his money.

At first glance, Jodi Breakers has a lot going for it: an unusual and interesting lead pair, fabulous outdoor location (Greece, in this case) and foot-stomping music. But the movie is let down by a script that lacks fizz and connect. Director Ashwini Chaudhary’s venture begins as a comedy but gradually morphs into romance and loses momentum in the second half. Jodi Breakers isn’t entirely without merit though. Madhavan is earnest. And Bipasha looks stunning. Together they try to make the film better than it actually is. But it simply isn’t enough.

  • What’s Good: A few comedy scenes; the music. What’s Bad: The defective screenplay; the uninspiring and meaningless second half. Verdict: Jodi Breakers is a dull show. It will not be able to break even.Loo break: Several.Watch or Not?: Watch it for the performances and the music, but do not expect much else.
