...a fine holiday movie for undemanding families — the action is competently done, there’s an emotional story for those looking for one, and The Rock is in top form. It could be worse, but it couldn’t really have been better.

‘Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle’ won’t become a classic like the original Jumanji, but as long as family entertainment during this holiday season goes, this is a functional movie.

This entire body-switch premise works on slapstick humour that's not crass and moves quickly with ample action to ensure that the 2-hour runtime doesn't feel bulky at any point.

Productionwise, a few scenes really make you jump in your seats, so I am assuming those took most of the 3-D budget that a few crucial scenes, like the one in the very end, that needed better rendering, suffered. Having scene Karen Gillan throw mean punches in Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, watching the awkward action choreography in her scenes feels jarring.

If you’re a 90s kid, this might be a good chance to to relive your childhood memories. The board game has turned into a video game but the fun quotient remains intact. Kids will love it, but as I said there are few jokes only for grown ups.

Overall, with the production quality befitting the ticket value, the film will appeal to children and adults alike.

Ultimately, it may not be a fitting tribute vehicle to the late Robin Williams, but works as a fun watch if you’re a huge Johnson or Hart fan.
