This is an excellent movie straight from Balan’s heart although conflict may be painful; the painless solution doesn’t exist in most cases. All said and done, the movie is worth a watch.

Siddharth strikes gold yet again with Kaaviya Thalaivan, but the film belongs to Prithviraj who shines as a baddie. Watch the film for three reasons – Siddharth, Prithviraj and AR Rahman. Vasanthabalan deserves a pat on his back for coming out with a brave and unflinching film that oozes the kind of sincerity that you long for in most Tamil films these days.

There is no denying Vasanthabalan’s desire to make “good cinema,” but like his other films, Kaaviya Thalaivan makes us give him an A for effort, even as we rummage down the alphabet when it comes to aspects of the execution.

Kaaviya Thalaivan is a classic from Vasanthabalan which is simply brilliant except for the song placement of ‘Yaarumilla’ song which disturbs the pace of the movie. But that shouldn’t stop anyone from witnessing Kaaviya Thalaivan’s magic in theatres.

The specialty of the film is – The villain in the film is not without his nobility & the hero here is not without his faults! In bringing out memorable showings from his cast & technical crew & making Kaaviya Thalaivan a stand-out film in their resumes, Vasantha Balan elevates his own level.
