It's your typical Hari formula – action-packed, fast-paced, and unrelenting – but even by his standards, the logic takes a backseat in Rathnam.

Rathnam is a typical Hari entertainer that relies heavily on Vishal's star power and action sequences. While Priya Bhavani Shankar impresses with her performance, the film follows a predictable formula with limited novelty in its narrative approach.

'Rathnam' is a clichéd mass masala entertainer that is neither massy nor has masala.

There is little to like in this noisy, gory Vishal film.

Director Hari's recent release Rathnam invokes a feeling of watching the rehash of his old blockbusters. As far as filmmaking goes, Hari has tried to be fresh and inventive, but the soul of the film is dated. One can argue that Hari is old school, but there's a difference between being a prized antique and obsolete.

Rathnam is a quintessential Hari movie that comes with the cost of being obsolete and a cringe fest. Whatever the hero (Vishal) does looks amateur and laugh-worthy.
