Ready or Not: Here I Come

Treading Get Out territory, but not as much a social commentary as it would like to be, Ready or Not is a comic-horror flick that is not shy of blood, gore or pushing the envelope, but isn't finally as good as it promises to be.

"Ready or Not 2: Here I Come" proves to be just as explosively fun as its predecessor, even if it's essentially "the same, but more." The larger scope gives Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett the freedom to show off what they do best and wrangle a sprawling ensemble cast of big characters with ridiculous personalities.

Who will win the game is never really in question, so the success of the film comes down to how well it's played.

This action-packed, blood-soaked sequel is just what fans have been waiting for the past seven years, hopefully paving the way for a trilogy in this sinister world Radio Silence has created. Weaving and Newton provide the emotional center with their complicated chemistry as two sisters who must rely on each other to survive until dawn, matching comedic wits just as seamlessly as they unpack years of familial pain on screen.

The sequel to the bloody and clever-dumb 2019 hit expands its portrait of "the elites," though the action remains brutally single-minded.
