Michael B Jordan is effortless as the two men from whom we can't tear our eyes away, who are as many parts good, grieving men trying to do some good as cool-headed businessmen. He packs both charisma and raw strength here.

His very long, ever-growing sleeve. The climactic confrontation is what we're waiting for, and pays off.

Sinners is a sweltering, sexy southern gothic horror, a blues-infused vampire flick in which the music flows as freely as the blood. If you pick apart the story threads, Sinners is a little messy, but Coogler's assurance and vision holds everything together. It looks phenomenal: shot on 70mm film, the frame throbs with sultry, come-hither reds and golds.

I'm writing as one of the Christians who did see Sinners—and I enjoyed it. It wrestles honestly with whether we can keep 'dancing with the Devil' without him 'follow[ing] us home.' Even if you're typically averse to horror films, you might want to watch this one for its social commentary and cinematic wizardry.

'Sinners' is Ryan Coogler's best movie so far — a bloody, bluesy, and throbbingly fun vampire saga led by Michael B. Jordan's twin performances and a phenomenal cast.

As much arthouse as grindhouse, it's a blood-drenched mix tape that shouldn't work. But it does, thanks to Coogler's muscular direction, a terrific cast, enveloping IMAX visuals, body-quaking sound and music that stirs the soul while setting the pulse racing. It's a unique experience, unlike anything either the director or Jordan has done before.
