Toby

Toby, in a sense, feels like an extension of that kind of story-telling. It's raw and very real and tugs at your heart every now and then. Set expectations aside and watch it with an open heart to well and truly feel the emotions of Toby.

In the grand scheme of things, Toby offers a satisfying cinematic experience, yet it leaves a lingering sense of yearning for something more. Amid its multi-layered performances and visual sophistication, the film navigates a complex tapestry of human emotions.

Raj B Shetty is at his best with the ability to convey his feelings through gestures as his character has no dialogues. His performance is superb in some scenes. But it is a must-watch if you want to see talented actor Raj B Shetty in a different avatar.

Raj plunges headlong into his character, no doubt, but he also becomes a bit of a control freak while doing so, telling us, the viewer, how to feel about every dramatic moment. If only the narrative wasn't slightly contrived and remained as innocent as his smile, Toby would have emerged as the film that it was always meant to be.

An ordinary tale of an ordinary man, embellished with emotions and violence

The film fails to fight its predictable storyline thanks to the lack of a single surprise element... Toby leaves one with an empty feeling as we sense the effort put in to create a masterpiece; however, the outcome is far from organic.
