• Filmistaan may win accolades from the critics and a thin section of the audience in the big cities but that’s about all. Save for a few multiplexes in the major cities, it can’t hope to score at all. Even if collections pick up, that will happen in a handful of cities only.

  • Holiday is an excellent entertainer and will bring in huge crowds to the cinemas. It will keep the audience and the exhibitors very happy. As for the distributors, they will remain happy but less than the others because of the very high prices they have paid for the distribution rights. Incidentally, the film deserves tax-exemption.

  • Citylights is a very class-appealing film with not much novelty value. It can hope to do well in select multiplexes of the big cities but not otherwise. Its mediocre investment is a point in its favour.

  • Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi is a dull fare and cannot hope to do much at the ticket windows despite some good comedy. Its very low cost is probably its biggest plus point.

  • …does not have much for the Hindi film-going audience and will, therefore, not fare well at the box-office. However, its Tamil version has the potential to prove a big hit because of the demi-God status enjoyed by Rajinikanth among the Tamil-speaking audience and also due to the novelty factor.

  • On the whole, Heropanti is a surefire hit.

  • The Xposé is an engaging suspense thriller with hit music and excellent dialogues as the plus points. It will do fair business but it has an extraneous factor working against it and that is that it has a limited window of just one week to do business because it will face a major opposition in the form of the eagerly-awaited film, Heropanti, next week.

  • Koyelaanchal is a violent drama which becomes soft mid-way. It is a good commentary on the coal mafia but as far as its entertainment quotient is concerned, it is very limited. It will, therefore, not be able to do much at the box-office except in some pockets.

  • Hawaa Hawaai is a fine entertainer which makes the audience laugh, cry, cheer and enjoy. It has the potential to be a hit but its extremely poor start will tell on its business in the final tally. Word of mouth for the film will be positive because of which box-office collections, which were very poor on the first day, will pick up as the days progress.

  • …is an interesting fare but one which does not have any commercial value. At the ticket-windows, it will fail to make any impact whatsoever, its unusual title and absence of face value only adding to its tale of woes.
