Chulbul Pandey, a young boy, lives with his younger half-brother, Makhanchan "Makkhi" Pandey, stepfather Prajapati Pandey (Vinod Khanna) and mother, Naina Devi (Dimple Kapadia) in Laalgunj, Uttar Pradesh. His stepfather is always partial towards Makkhi which constantly angers Chulbul. He harbours a feeling of resentment and indifference towards his stepfather.Wikipedia
Watch it strictly for Salman, who delivers enough bang for your buck!
...it's not meant to make sense. It's only meant to entertain. And entertain, it does in overdoses. No, this isn't meant for people who are looking for different cinema. Nor is it meant for the viewer who likes movies to appeal to his head. Yet, for those who celebrate and serenade the `silliness' of mainstream masala movie lore and swear by its popcorn quotient, Dabangg is the greatest getaway of the season.
Dabangg is not a movie for non-Salman fans. But for those who worship him it's a film you simply cannot afford to miss.
I recommend that you see the film for the sheer pleasure of watching Salman Khan in top form. And for the nicely smoldering Sonakshi who despite their difference in age and experience, holds her own effectively.
Dabangg is a thorough entertainer, and unflinching at that, the kind audiences lapped up in umpteen films in the 1970s and 1980s.
Dabangg may be a routine subject but its other plus points will ensure that it proves a runaway hit from North to South and East to West. It will be loved by the masses and classes, the young and the old, the girls and the boys, the men and the women. Business in single-screen cinemas will be historic, of course, but collections in multiplexes will also be outstanding. This one will click in big, medium and small centres, with the Eid festival and the heavy anticipation only adding to the business.
DABANGG is a full on entertainer with three aces - Salman Khan like never before, stylish action and super music. It's a foregone conclusion that DABANGG will open huge. As far as the business prospects are concerned, the film will set new benchmarks, so much so that DABANGG will be one of the yardsticks to gauge the level of business in times to come. Sure to fetch an earth-shattering opening, the film will create a pandemonium at the box-office, cementing the status of Salman Khan as the darling of the masses and making the distributors laugh all the way to the bank. It has Blockbuster written all over it!
Audience Reviews for Dabangg
Dabangg starring Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha, a romantic cop thriller set in the badlands of Uttar Pradesh which seems actually like the beginning of a saga fresh out of a keen narrative. Of course there are masala moments and solid punches of humour and entertainment, but these things never altogether come in the pathway of solid storytelling.
And that's because the narrative, especially with these characters like Chulbul Pandey and Rajjo, has no dearth of authenticity. I'm going with 3.5 out of 5 for 'Dabangg'. Think of it as a mindless but original film, and you'll just love this story of Robin Hood Pandey!

Dabangg—-one as an out-and-out masala thriller, with the old-as-hills formula of estranged family, bonds of blood and bloody revenge, helmed by a crowd-puller who is one of the few remaining in Bollywood who has the physical presence to be a larger-than-life action hero
