Banerjee engages the viewer throughout, taking him on a journey to decipher the motives of the government and the ‘inquiry commission’, which most know what they stand for. But amongst the bad and ugly in the film there is also the good within the system that actually shocks. What is even more shocking is that Banerjee boldly exposes the real killer but also smartly hides the fact. Something no filmmaker has had the gumption to do. That I think is Banerjee’s trump card in SHANGHAI; he has banked on his ability to deceive!

ROWDY RATHORE has a storyline, unlike a few of the past Bollywood blockbusters that rode heavily on customized fight sequences. More importantly, Prabhu Deva has the pulse of the audience. This one’s going to bring the house down. Akshay gets a huge canvass to display action, romance, comedy and dance. It cannot get bigger than this for him!

YEH KHULA AASMAN is a wonderful product of a sensitive story, simple direction and melodious music which forms an intrinsic part of the narrative. In fact, it is the soul of the movie. It’s a pleasant experience which takes you back to the melodious times of the 70s and early eighties when music merged seamlessly with the narration and screenplay. YEH KHULA AASMAN is an everyday story, powerfully told using the kite as a metaphor.

This film has been in the making since 2008 by UTV Toons. Somewhere down the line Walt Disney joined in to make it one of India’s epic animated films thus far.
If your Sunday mornings were spent in front of the television set two decades ago, this one is definitely for you.

When watching a youngster from the film fraternity make his debut, you cannot but draw comparisons with LOVE STORY and QAYAMAT SE QAYAMAT TAK. While both had a similar story line with family as the opposition, the storyline of ISHAQZAADE pushes the envelope further with a cunning twist in the lover’s tale.

If you are looking exclusively for some 3D visual entertainment, go for it.

On the whole FATSO is a big letdown. It’s like a batsman is going great guns and because of his ‘arrogant overconfidence’ attempts a reverse sweep to be clean bowled when there was no need!

JANNAT 2 is watchable only because of Randeep Hooda and the action which is top class. The music too has the usual Bhatt stamp. But it cannot compare with JANNAT RELEASED IN MAY 2008. NAAM continues to be the favourite film of the Bhatts. In both JANNAT and JANNAT 2, Deshmukh, I believe, is compelled to make references to this Sanjay Dutt starrer.

In short, Part II ‘Definitely’ does not have a ‘Perpendicular’ rise. It is off ‘Tangent’!

Considering it’s a complex film, handling the moods of his different characters would have taken a lot from Kashyap. He gives a ‘close to reality’ dose of cinema without taking the crude layer off.
