Girls Will Be Girls
2024 · IndieWire
With her first feature, Talati expertly captures the quiet wonder and aching intensity of adolescence, first love, and caring about someone whose dueling duties and desires sometimes stop them from behaving as they know they should. Talati writes from a place of empathy rather than judgement, her care for Mira evident in every word and shot.

Dunki
2023 · IndieWire · Dec 2023
Hirani loves to make a film with a message — particularly one in which characters repeatedly declare the message in voiceovers, monologues, and songs. The forward momentum suffers from this, and from sections that are quickly explained via narration but otherwise skipped over. In the end, 'Dunki' undermines its own messaging, sandwiching a series of informative cards about donkey flights between a rushed conclusion and comedic coda.

Jawan
2023 · IndieWire · Sep 2023
"Jawan" is very, very political. It makes some heavy-handed statements about civic duty, but it asks those in power to do better just as strongly as it urges viewers to channel their SRK enthusiasm into making real change. It's a doozy to review without spoiling, as it's a film that must be experienced on a massive screen with a massive crowd.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani
2023 · IndieWire · Jul 2023
It's entertaining but not dependent on action and violence. It's star-studded but with genuinely talented actors, not just airbrushed beauty and family names. It's modern but not Western. It's family-oriented but not pedantic. And it's just a damn good time.
